OK I first intended to major in Engineering but I am not sure if Engineering is the best option for me.

My graduate school plans are more or less fixed on a MBA and I was just thinking what would be the best major (undergrad) that would help and complement a MBA!

I am thinking along the lines of a combination of Economics,Finance or Accounting!

I am still keen on engineering but I don't think it would further my business aspirations.

Which major/minor combination would be the best for me keeping the strengths and weaknesses of NYU in mind?

While business related majors are the most common among MBA’s there is a large interest among MBA schools in those with an education outside of business. Many engineering majors attend MBA schools. Those with a business oriented mind and quantitative skills are attractive and it does not take a business major to develop those.

That is why you will often find that actuaries and quantitative analysts are paid more than most other business positions. You could most definitely pursue an engineering degree and continue on to a great business career.

For a MBA, I’d need a few years of work experience and I think I can stand doing an engineering job.

I am more into investment banking and consultancy jobs (MBB and Morgan Stanley are my dream jobs) so I guess a business undergrad degree is my best bet.

Finance sounds the most logical to me, closely followed by Economics.
