Business

How hard is it to transfer from the liberal arts college to the business college once you're in?

I think average applicant had a 3.8 GPA?

very hard .

If you are fortunate enough to have the financial option to choose, take a direct admit at another undergraduate B-school. I've been advised not to go to liberal arts with the hope of transferring to McCombs.

I just read the Business Week article - top rankings of undergrad business schools (UT is 13). But, I saw this in the UT profile information, it is about last years class. This may give you some idea of the competitiveness to transfer into business.

487 internal candidates (admitted and denied) sought full-time admission to the business program for the 2005-2006 academic year. 65 were admitted to the program.

i don't think thats true cuz once i ran across it on ut McCombs website and it was something around 77% adimted, average gpa for in state 3.5 and oos 3.7 or 3.8

it's actually about 65%, but in 2004 it was 82%
i think its high becasue not many that are not interested apply (only about 300-400 apply)
it's a lot more competitive for external transfers
ilovebusiness, why would it matter if you were oos or in state if you are already UT student? doesn't just your GPA and your classes matter?

im currently at UT and I'm OOS and wanting to transfer into the business school. It does matter if you are an OOS student since only 10% of the internal transfers admitted to the business school can be from OOS.

collegenow is right that about 60-70% are admitted and it takes about a 3.5 or 3.6 your freshman year if you are a texas resident and a 3.7+ if you are OOS. i took a chance coming to UT hoping that id transfer to the business school and its worked out well so far. im on track to finish with a 4.0 or close to it but dont be fooled since it does take alot of work and studying. if you guys have any questions about what classes you should take if you do decide to go to UT feel free to message me.

hope this helped guys. good luck

hey bballa4life, can I have your email address to email you if I have any questions because I probably will forget to im you lol Although I'm in the Natural Science College, I still have to take those basic classes and I willing to take all the advices I can (especially from someone who's on track for a 4.0)

BTW if you have a few advice for taking classes or how to attain that 4.0 feel free to post here :) I'll gladly appreciated it:)
