Bust out them wallets - 5% Tuition increase

http://www.dailyprincetonian.com/archives/2005/01/31/news/11846.shtml

(to offset a projected 5% budget deficit)

No news since they ask us to expect a 5% increase every year.....

EDIT: Oh and this 5% they're gonna use to cover students' mental health treatment:

I shudder to think what I'll eventually be paying for my kids to go to college.

at least they'll be Princeton legacies.

Relative increases in tuition cost will be covered by financial aid?

This should come as no surprise to you Schwaby. They provided a breakdown of our total expenses in our acceptance package. It came up to $40,026, not including "books and personal expenses". It was $43,200 with "books and personal expenses"

inhaven

Oh I know. Just thought it was psuedo-newsworthy as it was the main article for the newly launched Daily Princetonian.

It's covered by fin aid anyway, so it doesn't really impact me.

"EDIT: Oh and this 5% they're gonna use for mental cases:"

I take 'psychotropic drugs' for my anxiety - does that make me a mental case? Hardly. I hate to be the one calling PC! PC! but you see that word 'stigma' there? It's because of phrases like that.

The people who are on financial aid won't be affected, and wealthy parents aren't exactly going to care about a 5% tuition increase. It's a drop in the bucket for them. So it ends up that tuition increases hurt those who can afford to pay in full, but only just.

Sorry, didn't think of it that way. I'll report that as offensive.... btw my dad takes psychotropic drugs too. I posted without thinking twice... :o

Yes, Princeton is expensive. Yes, we'll have to pay them lots of our money. But yes, I think we'll be happy about it in the end (hopefully, especially considering comparative cases...).

exactly. I was wondering if Pton dishes out so much fin. aid as they do now, how will they get yearly revenue?

Ok I forgive you, let's all be friends ;) (I really wasn't that offended, but I just like to make people aware of stuff like that)

Still cheaper than HYMS though.

I have to take an Economics course by correspondence so that I graduate high school (psh, overrated), and it was written in the 80's, and they made a BIG HUGE DEAL about the fact that MIT cost 15,000, and that was SO EXPENSIVE.

Also, we haven't yet found a way to recycle plastics.

Princeton is way cheap if you're poor like me. hahahahahahah! all u rich suckers.
