Butler

I'm in Cuyler Hall.

I was pretty disappointed at first, but turns out Cuyler is an upperclassman dorm temporarily assigned to Butler college, and that it was built at the same time (and along the same scheme) as Holder, Madison and other coveted Gothic dorms on campus. I guess I should be feeling happy after all. I know Bloomberg is great too, no idea about 1915 though. Hooray for the first Freshmen in Cuyler! There are bound to be very few of us in Butler (enhances Princeton's trademark personal experience)... Sign in guys!

I saw a Butler RCA in a recent post... philntex, if you're reading this, do post here.

BUUTLEEERRRRR!!!!!

That alone should let you know...this college kicks ass. No, guys, seriously...if ANY of you are ****ed about being it Butler, you need to be smacked around a little bit. This college is going to freakin' rock. Sure, we don't have a quad all of our buildings are centered around like Mathey or Wilson, but we have pretty much all of Poe Field, my favorite place on campus, as our "quad" (as a reference point, it's behind Bloomberg).

Cuyler's an amazing dorm. It's basically composed of singles through up to 5-person suites, it's done in the neo-Gothic style (to appease those of you who were (wrongly) hoping for Rocky, Mathey, or Whitman), and has one of the cutest quads in front of it ever. Plus...you have an amazing dorm location. Juniors and seniors were outraged when they found out Butler was taking over Cuyler because it has one of the most desirable locations on campus (literally right across from the gym, right next to the student center, and very close to classrooms and the libraries on the north end of campus). So, in short, your housing is freakin' awesome.

For those living in Bloomberg (where I'll be holding it down), your housing is also suh-weet. You'll have A/C for those almost-unbearable first two weeks and last week or so of school where the humidity is ridiculous and everyone else is dying. You also have amazing rooms that used to belong (mostly) to upperclassmen. BUT WAIT, there's more! (Sorry if I'm starting to sound like a salesman) You ALSO have light wood floors, an amazing and modern building, a beautiful lounge/sitting area, large study rooms, laundry on almost every floor, a huge and gorgeous field just behind your building, and for those of you interested in a capella or dance, rehearsal rooms and studios are in the basement (as well as the WPRB radio station, for those interested in that). Sure, it's far from the northern part of campus, but it's a very insular building. I think it'll do a lot for the Butler community next year.

1915 folks, don't think you're getting the short end of the stick. 1915 used to be the envy of all non-1915 kids. For the ladies, there are HUGE (no seriously, HUGE) singles, and for the gentlemen, there are equally large triples (2 bedrooms + 1 common room). The only thing that sucks is that the bathrooms are in the basement. However, you also have laundry, and you're right next to the dining hall. That's frackin' sweet, especially during the winter.

Butler will be the smallest college next year because of the construction, so it's going to be an even better college community. If any of you are Bloomberg 175-193, get ready for the best RCA group times ever. Freshman Week will be out of this world 8)

so how do three people share such a room? just curious

A triple is basically two bedrooms plus a common room. And with '15, I believe the two bedrooms are the same size, so it's awesome for the person who gets the single and less spacious for those in the double.

And, in Butler you have philntex. Who, in his year of pre-frosh, basically ignited the fire that still burns on the cc board for Princeton today:).

sweet i got cuyler and man it looks sweet
its a pretty nice double

Haha, thanks Alumother. I think it was the whole mix of personalities that made the CC c/o '09 incredible. But the arrival of '11 really makes it seem like all of that was ages ago. Why are we already halfway through? Gah.

I remember exactly a year ago, I was devastated to have been put in Butler when I got the housing info in the mail. Very silly -- I loved Butler incredibly much, and I'm now even more devastated that they're tearing down the building that I was in (1942). I'm going to Whitman next year, which is in every way amazingly wonderful, but I'm still really wi****l about leaving Butler and our wonderful hall last year (not to mention, Wu Dining Hall is the BEST, though Whitman's is looking pretty incredible too). Be excited for this fall, pre-frosh! :)

skysongx . . . tom said they tore down my study tree!!!! but 42 is still standing as of a few days ago, i looked at some pix and felt a surge of nostalgia for the girls of 325. lourie-love and 1922 are gone though :(

butler is AWESOME. besides getting sweet housing and a totally revamped dining hall (not sure when that's supposed to be finished, but i know everything will be all shiny and new), you have either air-conditioned hotel-esque housing or really beautiful centrally-located gothic.

however, the biggest advantage comes with the trademark butler attitude-- the "we-don't-take-no-crap-from-nobody" kind of deal. there is solidarity in ugliness.

If they tore down the tree, then 1942 is going down fast :( I'm CANT believe that the suite is going to be nonexistent. I want a brick from our room.

As for the Butler remodeling, the new and improved dining hall structure will happen in 2009 at the same time is Wilcox (Wilson's dining hall). In any case, I think that Wu is already amazing enough! By the way, the censored word in my previous post is "wis t f ul."

By the way, way to join in on the CC fun, ptonkatz10, following the mother's footsteps! (And nice screenname)
