that's true too. moral of the story, i guess, being get them a little roomy. my roommates laughed at me during basic because as i scrambled to put my boots on, i'd do a kind of dance/stomp thing.

My boots from Jack's are almost impossible to wear now! They shrunk, and now I only wear the new ones, except for training sessions.

So when I do end up getting my boots...and since I'm not going to orientation...would I have to have the same brand/style of boots as the ones they sell then? Or does it matter?

You will definitely want to be standardized with your classmates.

When the Orientation/ Appointment booklets get sent out, they will tell you exactly which boots will be worn for the in-coming class. It will state the Make and Model number exactly. My d didn't go to orientation either. She purchased the boots on-line using the info from the Appointment package, and it was no problem.

but get the exact model. there was a girl in my squad who got hers at her local base but it was a different brand, and she got picked on.

dont be different is the bottom line hehe

And speaking of feet.....I would recommend ALL in-coming cadets to --you're going to laugh but I'm serious!---learn how to properly trim your toe nails!!! There were many incidences of in-grown toe-nails last BCT. You do NOT want to know how they swiftly and efficiently deal with that! ---ouch..... :( .. Seriously, just learn how to properly cut them STRAIGHT across and NEVER too short! It's a perfect recipe for disaster when you have wet, hot feet and you're running around in boots all day, every day, and then you find yourself in some not-so-clean water....So I would just advise a quick lesson in proper toe hygiene before BCT!

Also, just another random foot recommendation, if you start to get a blister, don't ignore it. That is what my roommate did and she ended up with basically a hole in her foot (no kidding, like at least 1/8 in deep) and was on a Form 18 for a while.
-And now back to boots...

oh man! it was so disgusting!! it was all sorts of infected and huge! too bad we still didn't have 1st beast cadre, or we would have all 'standardized!'

I'm working on them to be our training officers for next semester! so hopefully they will be better than this semesters TO's!

oh, back to the blister...it's still there, never healed all the way. it's gross, let them heal and get taken care of IMMEDIATELY!!!
