Anyone consider this? I'm looking at a MacBook. They sell them for a better price than say Best Buy, and offer service if anything goes wrong. Plus, you get the free iTouch if you buy it. Is anyone else thinking of doing this?

it’s a pretty fair deal for you to buy a macbook before sep 8th. you can also buy it online at apple.com. but the free iTouch is the refund through rebate and only up to $229 which means just an 8G iTouch… =(

dbdavis, if you want a Macbook go to Macmall. Its a mac wholesaler and they have good deals on everything.

i’m still a bit confused… what’s the difference between buying it from apple.com and the UCSB bookstore? my parents were about to get me one online but if the bookstore has better deals then i guess i can wait until orientation.

If you want to buy a Mac go to Macmall, they have many deals. They also give you the same warrenty as an Apple store, its a mac wholesaler. I’m not kidding!

but macmall doesnt come with the free ipod & $100 printer rebate :/

oh nvmm…i see what kind of deals they have haha

^^ exactly

but you can have your ipod engraved if you buy it from apple.com.

^^ they do free engraving too. I’m not joking its exactly like an Apple store but with better deals. Why don’t you actually look at the website before making comments like that?

can the site be trusted tho, has anybody ever had any trouble with them?

They have do have stores if you wish to go there. They are a mac wholesaler. Ex. I contacted Apple for some costumer service and they easily found my Macbook serial number/ID number on their computer.

Don’t buy.

They WILL fix faulty products, it seems, but it takes around a month and many people reported having received malfunctioning computers or entirely different orders from what they requested.

I bought a laptop from MacMall and it wasn’t faulty or anything. I got the new 15" MacBook Pro for $1400 and free shipping after rebates. It was brand new. It actually arrived in three days, earlier than it was supposed to. At first I was kind of skeptical about the whole discount after the rebates thing. And when my dad said he hadn’t received the checks after a month I was starting to regret buying it from them. But I emailed customer service and they replied very promptly and sent a new set of checks for the rebates. It turns out they had sent it the first time but my dad had misplaced them. But obviously since we hadn’t cashed them in they were able to send us new ones.

Personally, I recommend buying from them. It’s a whole lot cheaper than all the other stores I looked at to buy the new MacBook.
