is whole macbook discount thing with the ipod cheaper if you buy it at the regular apple retatil store or if you but it at Berkeley's Scholar workstation (campus computer store) or are the the same?

i think its the same but i just wanna double check.

it is the same...i purchased the back-to-school deal at tsw and found the only true benefits of shopping with them was that they will fix your computer all year long plus you are still entitled to use the apple retailer closest to your home when you're not at cal...oh and i decided to purhase the apple care and saved 50 bucks that i would have lost through apple...(btw tsw is an authorized apple seller)

yeah im wondering about that too. can we still take it to tsw even tho we didnt buy it there. also can we purchase the applecare there later within the one year warranty for the discounted price? because the guy at the apple store said that i could buy the applecare later (within one year) and i was just wondering if you could do the same at tsw

88888888 and gully: in a word, yes. but keep in mind they only "diagnose" for free and will charge you if you want to get the actual problem fixed. and gully, yes you may still purchase the applecare later (they will never say no to business ;) but you might want to directly contact tsw about the discounted apple care b/c that may have been a bundle deal

I just bought my MacBook and an iPod Touch through the apple store because I got the free all in one printer they're offering too. I'm not sure if they offer that at TSW.

BTW, why does our school have such sucky software discounts? I know people at other schools that can get Microsoft Office for Mac for like $70 but we're charged $130! Anyone know where we can get better deals?

for software, i went back to my old high school and talked with one of my old graphic design teachers. he basically gave me the code for the mac's iWork suite (of which my h. s. had a ton of leftover, purchased, legitimate codes). and for free. it probably is not right to just take something that the SCHOOL purchased, but i WAS a graduate and i basically gave them 4 years of my life. i do occasionally have some issues with .doc's and such but if i have to print from another computer's printer, i just export the .pages file as a .pdf and put it on my flash drive and go.

hope this helps. i got a mac knowing that nearly everyone else will have PC's which makes compatibility suck..... but so far it's worked :) good luck w/your software search!

you guys can prbbly find cheaper versions on amazon(where i purchased mine). the only reason its cheaper though is becaasue they give 1 installation key for $50, 2 for 100 or 3 for 150...so tsw doesnt have any mind-blowing sales for mac ox office...
