Buying college computers

Is buying a laptop from the school technology center a good idea? Any thoughts on whether they are REALLY competitively priced, and whether the Dell computer they offer is any good?

I thought that they looked horribly priced. I would say look elsewhere.

noooo!!! don’t buy the school dell’s! They’re known for being very cheap and to crash and dump your hard drive a lot! they’re clunky, heavy, and slow! Whatever you do, just don’t buy the dell’s! Trust me, you’ll be a lot happier if you do a little bit of research online and get your own computer!

thanks for that info. I thought they seemed expensive so I’m glad that is confirmed.

I don’t know much about the cost of the school computers vs. outside, but a major benefit of getting a computer through the school: if it breaks, they will loan you a laptop while it’s being fixed. (And I think they fix some things for free? I’m not too sure…).
