THANK YOU

chance me? anyone?

SAT is kind of low, Tulane has been trending up every year and will be 2050-2100 this year most likely. So getting those scores up is a must. SAT II doesn’t matter too much I don’t think, but obviously you are going to do the subjects you feel strongest in.

Your GPA should be OK, although again 3.4 UW is on the lower end. Still, given your challenging classes I think you will be OK with that. I think that is one of your stronger points, it looks like you have challenged yourself by taking the highest level courses your school offers. Universities look for that.

Your essay will be very important. Spend time on it, be yourself with it. What I mean by that last is don’t do what you think looks best to a college or try to guess what they want, which you kind of indicate is your mindset by some of your other comments. Believe me, there are tons of kids doing that and so you all look the same. You stand out by being yourself. Having said that, once you write your essay have a teacher you like proof it for you and listen carefully to suggestions for improvement. Even the best writers have editors. Oh, and apply early action.

Good luck!

i got in with a 3.4 UW and a 2030. apply early. (i took 8 APs and the rest of my courses were honors)

go_habs: Good illustration of what I was saying. A 3.4 where you have challenged yourself that much will usually be more favorably considered than, say a 3.6 or even a bit higher where the person did not take many higher level courses. And your SAT was in the right range also, right at the Tulane average.

Good luck at Providence. Being in Rhode Island lots of the kids go there, I am sure you will like it.

aw thank you!

chances?

Hard to say, but since the app is free it doesn’t really matter much what we think your chances are. Just appply!! Certainly you have a decent shot, because it looks like you are a good student that takes challenging courses.

The most vaulable thing this forum can do isn’t to “chance” you, but to give you advice on maximizing your liklihood of getting accepted. As I said earlier, your essay needs to be strong thematically, grammatically correct and free of spelling errors. Trust me, that alone will make yours different than about 25% of what they receive. Beyond that, if Tulane is your top choice, try to let them know that by saying so and telling them why. Get to know the school and its history and current culture, to some degree. It is very impressive to a school when a student shows strong interest and can articulate the reason for that interest.

Good Luck!
