***Looking for a productive(but cheap!) summer activity that would look good for college apps, so once again any suggestions are welcome!

also:
SAT I-1720 (im retaking it though!)
SATII-taking in the fall (recommendations?)

The summer activity that will look best on the applications is the one you are most interested in. USC admits many different types of kids, but most are passionate about their activities and can discuss them with enthusiasm.

I agree with bessie, definitely show a strong interest in one or two areas.
I was also a Latin student so props to you! But where’s JCL! (:
I recommend taking the Latin subject test. Just be prepared to be unaided in the area of vocab!

oh thank you! both of those posts are good advice! i did retake the SAT so hopefully that score went up and i plan on taking the subject tests in the fall. and my school did not have jcl this year or else i would have done it! generally, what did the latin subject test have one it (like was it mostly vocabulary and grammar or was it passage reading?) and do you think i have any chance of admission?

Well in terms of general admission, it’s always hard to say.
I applied to SPPD and got in Spring with similar grades, 4.1 w 3.5 uw as of junior year (dont really know/care about what it is now that hs is done hahah) and a 2160 superscored. You seem pretty solid in terms of EC’s and things, but like we said, a strong focus always helps. Mine was involvement in class council/asb and four years of JCL and officer positions in JCL.

In terms of the Latin test, its a variety of things including a few derivatives, a couple passages, and things like “what is the (number, case) of _____” but they wont give you principle parts, just a random form of a word say:
“what is the dative singular of templum”

awesome! so going through vocab and grammar and what not over the summer wouldnt hurt. yeah im alittle scared that in trying to be “well-rounded” i may have spread myself too thin, but i am volunteering at Urban Ministry again this year and i may do some other volutnteering so at leats i will have that. hopefully my personal statements can make up for any of my application gaps :)

The Junior Classical League
It’s basically the national Latin club, hosts a variety of events including national convention and each state tends to have their own state convention
Lot’s of leadership opportunities for kids to get involved in both at local, state, and national levels

The best colleges like a broad liberal arts background with additional courses in an area of interest. Consider taking a 4th year of science or AP Psych if that is considered a science. Otherwise, take what you are interested in and do your best.
