By applying early decision is financial aid decreased?

I was wondering if I applied to Boston university would I likely receive less financial aid then what I would be offered with regular admission or is the financial aid equal. I understand applying early decision is only recommended to those who don’t need to know about financial aid but I wanted to know if there is a certain less percent of financial aid offered in early decision or do people not apply early decision just so they can search for better financial aid offers?

Financial aid is supposed to be equal. A few people I know got some decent financial aid even when they applied ED. I know I applied RD because I wanted to search better financial aid offers. Plus I didn’t want to be committed to a school that I could not afford. Hope this helps!

Uh, no. BU is free to distribute institutional aid as it pleases.

Sorry I didn’t word that right. Obviously I did not want to imply its equal for everyone so thanks for rewording. What I meant to say is that its an equal chance either way. You could get less or more aid regardless of ED or RD. But the point is that if BU really likes you, then they’ll maybe give you the money. It also depends on FASFA info. Also don’t forget federal loans and grants, if you only make so much money a year, then you qualify for some federal stuff to cover some of the costs.
