How much does applying early decision affect the admissions decision?

Another question about early decision, if you’re accepted do they discriminate against you when giving out financial aid and scholarships because they know you have to go?

I was told by a financial aid advisor that you may get offered more aid since you are committing to BU by applying Early Decision. I’m not sure whether that is the case. I do know that if you apply by December 1, you may be considered for a Presidential Scholarship.

I was told the opposite because you have committed to going there so they dont have to persuade you with merit aid

I’m not an admissions officer, but I’ve heard your chances are slightly greater when you apply ED. However, if financial aid is a concern to you, it would be better to apply RD so you can weigh your options.

I believe you can pull out of the agreement if you don’t get enough aid, but if finances are really a big issue, you’re better off applying RD.

shiningstar91 said it better than I did. Acceptance greater with ED but chance at money greater at RD

Hey new member here~I want to ask whether BU requires SAT subject tests?

We had read somewhere that BU required two subject tests. My son submitted his scores for the tests he took. However, he had a friend who applied to BU who did not take subject tests and was accepted. I think it may depend on which school/college at BU you are applying.
