Hello,
I am applying to the CARE program my scores are as follows
Highschool GPA: 3.0 unweighted and 4.2 weighted
SAT Scores: 490 in reading 500 in math and 420 in writing
ACT Score: 20
Do I have a chance in getting in?

My ethnicity is white, Im Russian, do they have a preference for race?
I am hoping that they will accept me, I havent sent in the application yet because I'm in the process of completing it.
For those of you who have been in this program can you tell me what where your opinions and experiences in it?

I believe that you need a 21 ACT score. Or at least, you need a few minimum scores in each ACT section:

In addition to the applicant’s overall composite on the ACT or total score on the SAT, the following minimum subscores are required:

Writing - 21 on the ACT English or 21 on the ACT E/W or 500 on the SAT writing
Math - 21 on the ACT math or 500 on the SAT math
Reading - 22 on the ACT reading or 500 on the SAT critical reading

Since you don’t meet the minimum requirements, you won’t be accepted to FSU.

I am also currently applying for C.A.R.E.
If I were you I would retake the SAT because they do have a specific subscore requirement for each section.
If I’m not mistaken you should have above a 460 for CR and Mathematics and over 440 in Writing. Looks like you should focus a bit more on the writing section if you do decide to retake.
As far as race goes, I don’t think they have a preference.

You need to bring all your SAT subscores to 500 or above or get your ACT scores to the equivalent. There is no preference to race at all. You did not mention anything about your financial status but this is a factor in their decision. Last year’s CARE class only had one participant that was a self-pay participant. The rest of the students were covered by financial aid (for the SBP) at 100%. If you don’t have your application in already (as you state above) then you need to get it in ASAP. Scores or no scores, get on their radar as they only accept approximately 360 students and they get thousands of applications every year. FSU also reserves the right to close the application period early if they receive a large number of applicants. Good luck!

You can look on the FSU site and get the qualifications for CARE. The summer bridge program has slightly lower qualifications. 19 is the min ACT and a 2.8 gpa. The program is for economically and culturally disadvantaged students. Most are first generation in college and require 100% financial aid.
