Stats
Unweighted GPA: 4.00
Weighted GPA: 4.59
Class Rank: 1/766 (our high school is fairly new, and it's not really an academic oriented school. It's more focused on sports, so i hope this doesnt hinder my chances)

now comes the depressing part: (either i just have the restless butt or something, i was never a good test taker.)

*ACT *:
30 - first time
31- second time

I think your in at purdue and a very low reach at illinois and you have a decent shot everywhere else. chance me back http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1033113-chance-me-ill-chance-you-back.html</a></p>

ouch, i thought i would get some bonus points for actually working at a lab rather than intern, and that i actually run test, researches and publish articles.

yeah dude u do, but most of the schools u are applying to are crazyyy good!

actually i take that back. cornell and brown are reaches, NYU is a high match. and yeah

i see i see thanks
and bumpppyy

I think you have a fair shot at all the schools. I don’t think your scores are a deal breaker.
I do have a question:
When did you participate in your activities (grade-wise) and how many hours do you spend a week on them?

The essays and recs will be a huge factor, but you can relax. You’ve worked hard and you’ll end up somewhere nice.

Anyways, GOOD LUCK :)

thanks
here are the hours and grades
Clubs:

 • Founder and president of the Science Club (12th, 2 hours/wk)
 • pre med club member (12th, 2hours.wk
 • interact club member (co founder, it was hard to be active in the club when i had to juggle bunch of stuff, 10-12th grade, 1 hour/wk, event hours are not included)
 • debate club (11th)
 • invisible children (10th,12th, 1 hour/wk, 2 times a months)
 • american cancer society (9th, 1 hour/wk, 2 times a months))
 • CSF life time member (10-12th, 1 hour/wk, 2 times a months))

Athletic

 • Jv track A team (9th)
 • Varsity wrestling (10th)
 • Varsity volleyball (was jv captain and went up to varsity starter)

Community Service

 • 250+ hours total
 • volunteer at local library (helped establish the AR book ssytem) (9-12th grade
 • tae kwon do instructor (9th-10th)
 • worked as a office assistance for a local company (10th)
 • math and science tutor (9-12th)

Work experience: 10-12th, 24 hours/ week in summer, 12 hours/wk during school

I think you have a good shot at Harvey Mudd, given your laboratory experience and interest in science. The 680 in Math 2 is definitely not good though, I think you will need a 770+. If you are interested in premed however, HM is not the best of choices.

thanks for the feedback, and yes that 680 is a breaker =/. still dont know how i got it though. i took couple practice tests and all scored over 760. sigh… o well and btw, i am planning on majoring chemical engineering but premed

Uc Bekerley - mid reach

Uc La - low reach/high match

Uc SD - match

Occidental - no clue, sorry.

NYU - high match

Harvey Mudd- low reach (nice shot though!)

Brown -mid reach

Good luck  You have nice science ECs, with the lab work and such. Scores will hurt you simply because you’re Asian, sorry. Grades are great, AP scores aren’t overly-amazing (just like me lol, though you did better than me on those). Your essays will get you into places; hope it works out for you :)

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1027620-brown-ed-chances-i-chance-back.html</a></p>

I believe you have a pretty solid chance at all of your desired colleges. Being Asian, sadly, makes it more difficult, but your EC’s are quite impressive, your academic performance is outstanding, and I honestly wouldn’t worry about the 680 on Math 2. Don’t listen to the people saying it’s going to destroy you.

thanks for the encouragement, and yes, sometimes i hate the race card >.<. and also i retook my sat 2, so i hope ill get a desirable score

Uc Bekerley- low-mid reach

i see thanks for the feed back and seems like no one knows anything about occidental

well I’d say all except Columbia, Cornell, Brown, and Berkeley are basically guaranteed admission. You have an excellent GPA and excellent extracurriculars. Your test scores are good too and they won’t hold you back. Good luck!!

Uc Bekerley - high match

Uc La - high match

Uc SD - low match

Uc Davis (this is my safety, got a ELC) -in

Columbia - match

Cornell - high match

Purdue - match

Occidental - low match

NYU - in

Harvey Mudd - high match

Brown - low reach

Illinois - low match

I like your chances. schools will consider that your high school is new, but you were still able to stand out. I also think your work experience will help you a lot. And you are Bruce lol.
Good luck! Chance me back.
