Ok so it's really early into the 2nd semester for us, but I'm already worried that I have a decent chance at getting a "C" in AP Calc BC. The class is VERY VERY hard second semester and I already got a "B" first semester. I could level down but I really don't want to do that, but I'm just wondering if "C" could get me rescinded at any of the following colleges cause I need to level down soon if I decide to.

Basically I have a strong feeling my grades will look like this

AP Gov/Econ-A
AP Calc BC-C
Ap English-B
AP Physics-B
AP Envi Sci-A
Model UN-A
Golf-A

I got 2 B'S first semester in calc and physics
I put down either undecided as my major or poli sci (first choice), history (2nd choice), biomedical sciences (3rd choice).

I'm applying to the following schools:

Dartmouth
Columbia
Harvard (for fun LOL)
Pomona
Northwestern
Wash U in St. Louis
University of Southern Cal
UCLA
UCSD
UC Berkeley
UC Irvine accepted
Boston College-accepted EA
Santa Clara-accepted EA

It won’t affect decisions, and assuming you have straight A’s outside of that C and B, I wouldn’t freak out. The bigger issue is your midyear report (which is fine, just not sterling).

Let me tell you a personal anecdote that might put your mind at ease more effectively and quickly than an overdose of Vicodin.

I got into Yale SCEA, got a C+ for my first semester midyear report, set that in, and didn’t hear a peep from them. I raised it to a B- (80.3) for second semester.

You won’t get rescinded… as long as you’re not flooring B’s with that C.

Calc BC, from what I remember, isn’t that bad second semester…unless your teacher teaches in a different order than my teacher. If you work hard, I am sure you can get a B second semester, given that you got a B first semester. Good luck!

My daughter also got a C 2nd semester of AP Calc BC, the first C she ever had, so maybe it’s not that unusual. But you are overlooking or not paying attention to the classes that are the most impactful:

AP Calc BC-C
Ap English-B
AP Physics-B

The other ones don’t matter as much, AND I too am surprised to see grades for sport and EC, so I’m sure those aren’t counted for much, if at all
