C in Med school pre req class.. pls help

^^ Thanks MYOS, you helped me to outline the options for OP.

Regarding ACT/MCAT correlation, statistically it is estimated that the old Mcat is about 1 point below your ACT, that is if you fall into the statistics. If you had a 27 in ACT and if you do not work hard in UG you will get a 26 in old Mcat that is below 500 in new Mcat and it is not competitive in ANY medical school, DO included.

Your goal is to reverse the stats and pull your new MCAT over 525 that is a long way from below 500. In old Mact, you need approximately 34 to be “in the ball park” for ANY MD school and 32 for DO school, it is an high order from 26.

Okay makes sense. Thanks.
My next semester has 2 hard and 3 easy classes. But I’m starting to prepare for those hard classes during my break. And yes. I will be taking classes over summer 2017 but they are easy non-science classes.
I’m a public health major. Do you think i should change it?

Okay. so you guys prefer me to take a gap year to strength my application correct??

But can i apply after my junior year just for the sake and if anything ill apply again?

Bad idea. Why do you want to waste your application cycle?

Your best chance for an acceptance comes during your first round of applications. Being a reapplicant means you have a high bar to jump than first time applicants. Adcomms will expect to see substantial improvement in all weak areas of your app–GPA, MCAT score, ECs etc. Med school keep old applications on file and will compare you old app to your new app. Without substantial improvements, your application goes into the “auto reject” bin.

Additionally, a number of medical school limit the number of times you can apply to them to just twice.

Lastly, applying to medical school is expensive, stressful and exhausting.

Don’t do it until you have the best possible application packet you can manage.

Okay. So my situation:

  1. Significantly improve my GPA further on.
  2. Try to score high on the MCAT
  3. IF my MCAT is not high enough, I shall take a gap year and apply
  4. My EC’s need to be good.

Take classes over the summer in order to ‘dilute’ your first semester grades. Classes including oth gen ed and non premed pre req science. DO NOT take all 'easy ’ gen eds in the summer, save one for each semester in order to keep your schedule lighter.
Plan to take the mcat early spring senior year, apply in June.
Apply to both DO and MD schools.
Look for a position in a research lab pertaining to an area of interest. Remember that you’ll be doing grunt work till you’ve proved your worth and work ethics.

Okay i will do that. thanks
