Hello, I applied for TAG for UCI and was well aware that I was accepted into the program. However, I received a C in OChem, which drops my GPA down to a 3.36, so I know that I am no longer eligible for TAG. Would I still have a chance of getting into UCI? A ‘C’ in a major pre req like ochem sounds like it’s going to absolutely destroy my chances :. Sorry just looking for guidance from here on out because of how disappointed I am in myself from achieving that grade
@chrotle Don’t be disappointed. OChem is a tough subject and even passing it sounds awesome.
May I ask what major you are pursuing? I know that UCI has different TAG requirements for different majors and department. Also, would you make sure that your GPA is UC GPA not your college cumulative GPA?
@spookybear Hi! Thanks for replying! I’m a biological sciences major and actually I’m unsure on how to calculate my UC GPA. How would I go about doing that?
@chrotle Just calculate your GPA using only UC transferable courses I think you might have a higher GPA.
@spookybear Hey, sorry for the super late reply. I checked one of my apps and it said that my ASSIST certified course GPA for UC is 3.55. I wasn’t exactly sure which of my CSU classes would transfer over so I did not include those. With 62 units I have a 3.55 and with this C in ochem (5 units), I most likely have a 3.48?? Not so sure. Thank you for replying to my post btw! Much appreciated
@chrotle Then you do not have 3.36, you have 3.48! This is way more qualified than the 3.4 GPA
Good work, you are way over the borderline and you should consider yourself in… good thing we checked, right? Also, are you currently at CSU? Because idk if they do TAGs for CSU to UC transfer…
