So I haven’t even started high-school yet, but I recently took an online geometry course to try and get ahead. I learned that online courses are definitely not for me, as I really needed the help of a teacher multiple times. I ended the course with a C+, the worst grade I’ve ever gotten. So basically, before highschool even started, I have a GPA in the 2.0s. So my question is, if I work my butt off and get all As this year, can I atleast partially nullify the damage done with the C+? I really want to go to a good college for genetic engineering, which I know means I need to get good grades, but I’m worried I’ve already messesd up my dreams before I even started high-school. I might be over-reacting, but any comments would be greatly appreciated.
You will be 100% ok. You have four years to make up for one bad grade, dont let this one thing affect you. If anything colleges like to see improvement so if you can stun them later with a few A’s on no one will notice that one C you got in eight grade. High school is long road and things like this happen all the time, just relax and keep going and you will have a bright future.
That one grade you got the summer before freshman year is not gonna hurt you.
For what it’s worth, I got a C+ in math at some point during highschool and all A’s after, and I’ve been told that I can still apply with a decent chance to top schools.
Is the C+ on your HS transcript? If not I wouldn’t worry about it. If yes then you can make up for it.
Check with your guidance counselor as to your school’s policies. They vary widely and no one here can say how your school will handle the grade you got for an online course.
