I just got done taking physics 1 (without calc.) at UNC-Greensboro, it was a 5 week course (summer session). I came out with a C in the class, which I am not ashamed of considering i had never been exposed to physics before, and only had 5 weeks to learn 15 chapters worth of material. Nevertheless, C's aren't good. I have also previously gotten a C in gem chem 2. I am wondering if i should retake both these classes. I feel like I learned a lot about physics these past 5 weeks, but I certainly did not master the material, the same goes for gen chem 2. I am a rising junior and already have my schedule planned out for this coming fall semester (will be taking ecology and calculus among others). I still have yet to take (including fall 2011 semester) ecology, calculus, statistics, genetics, biochemistry, physics 2, and my foreign languages. And of course I still have gen ed reqs to fulfill.
I really am considering that I retake physics and gen chem 2, but I don't think it would be smart for me to do it in the summer. Any opinions on the matter?

Retaking a C puts in you a kind of no-win bind. If you get an A in the retake, the grade may get discounted. (“Of course he/she got an A, it’s the second time around.”) If you get less than an A, you just look bad.

Your best recourse for the C in phys 1 is to take phys 2 and get an A.

The C in gen chem2 is what it is. Go forward, destroy OChem.

But you do need to consider what your sGPA is looking like. It needs to be in the 3.5 range by the time you apply to medical schools. What’s your sGPA and what’s your major?

I got a B in orgo 1, and an A- in orgo 2. Right now I’d say my sgpa is a 3.2. I know i need to get it up, and I will, just need to strategize and take classes at the right times, (not in 5 week periods).
