I currently have a C+ in my dual credit english class. While I can get a B+ probably, my three unexcused absences will drop it back down to a C+ again. We have the option to withdraw, so the grade will count for only high school credit. If the highest grade I can get is a C+, do you think I should withdraw from college credit?
I have taken 2 other dual credit classes and gotten As in both if that means anything, and I’ll probably get an A in my dual credit class next semester. I used a calculator to estimate and my college GPA would be 3.58.

If you drop it now, you won’t get the credit for ENG 101 when you go to college. Unless you are aiming for a tippy top college, I’d say take the transfer in credit and run with it.

I would withdraw. You can take a CLEP exam and get the 6 credits for two intro composition classes.

If pre-med or pre-law, be aware that any college grade (C or W) will be included in you medical or law school application.
If so, you may want to look up the implications of W (C is straightforward, as it is counted in GPA recalculation).

Actually-just remembered this- in our experience there is no W for a medical withdrawal. If you did a formal medical withdrawal with documentation, the school should wipe your grades clean and there should be no W on the transcript. Is that relevant at all?
Thanks for the info! I’m not into anything like that, I’m majoring in statistics (which obviously may change), but for now, that’s what I’m interested in.
Unless there is something that needs a very high GPA or college GPA (highly competitive college admission, pre-med, pre-law, renewing certain scholarships, entry to competitive admission majors) and the dual credit course would count in that GPA, it may be better to take the credit for the course, even with a C+, so that you will not have to take it again later.
