i have only advanced to level 8 in CM (piano)...
branch honors when i was a freshman
3 years with band(maybe 4, provided that the senior schedule allows for it), BUT sadly it is counted as a class in the fine arts
- with the band, won a heritage music festival
- CMEA "Superior" designation for two years

i am still learning how to play w/ four mallets (for keyboard percussion) well

definetly...i actually spent 10 years on my 10 levels, but chances are, u went thru them in 5 years or less, this shows dedication, which universities do look for. "superior" also shows that ur actually good at it, not like the halfassed band from my school -_-U, and im not sure, but if they have a band, they will prolly give u some extra props for that... :D...

personally, i think band is considered an EC, it takes a lot of time outside of class, ie: football game, afterschool practices, shows, summer camps, saturday practices, etc...but thats just me, being in colorguard and all :D...as for piano, i say just go for level 10, cuz theres so little material to learn for that level, if u put in some extra effort, you could pass it....:D

honestly, im not even sure if the MTCA keeps ur records, i remember i slacked off one year and failed the theory portion, but passed the performance and they still sent me a pretty certificate that looked the same as everyone else's...logically, its really troublesome for MTCA becuase a lot of students skip levels and that gets confusing...but then again, if u took karate or something, they wouldnt go to ur instructor and ask him wat belt you have, rite?
