Caffeine on SAT day....effective???

I was just wondering if there was anyone out there who has consumed caffeine prior to taking the SAT I/II.

If there is...how was it...beneficial or disastrous? did it help you focus or did you just crash?

a few people have recommended it to enhance my concentration (i get easily distracted :[ ) but many are also discouraging it.

what do you guys think? yay or nay?

i suggest it, i took the sat three times and the time i drank caffine i did my best, although i had to pee really bad during the first writing section and had to run to the bathroom to pee during section 2

Do whatever you think will help you. Psychologically, you will be more confident and more relaxed.

So it can't hurt... unless you have a weak bladder. lol.

I drank coffee before the SAT out of habit and at the time, it didn't occur to me to not drink it. By our first break, I had to rush to the bathroom. I definitely would not recommend drinking coffee before the SAT. Even if you think you have a strong bladder, don't. It isn't worth squirming in your seat over. There are other ways to wake youself up in the morning, like taking a really hot shower or going outside for a morning run. I don't recommend it.

I always have caffeine, it's just how i work...

Drink tea then pee before hand.

best of both worlds.

I personally dislike coffee. But a little bit of oolong tea works wonders.

If it's caffeine, tea/red bull's better...coffee never helps me.

But I'd advice against it; if you get too worked up you might end up using the extra energy to stress out instead.

Tea is great, I like tea and usually have some in the morning anyway.

it was disasterous for me...drank too much and didn't have breakfast..so yea. uncontrollable handshaking=BADDD

simple desicion, do what you do normally. dont drink if your not used to it and drink if you are. its the same for marathons. i dont drink much caffine so im not about to start.

either people on his thread are lying or are just plain stupid. Caffeine is a stiumulant, and like 99% of stimulants available on the market they juice up your heart and drop down the rate. Take me for instance, 10th grade I drank a nice big cup of coffee, after the third section i felt like i was gonna collaprse from: the need to run to the bathroom, and my being extremely worn out. It's like running a sprint for 30 minutes straight adn leveling off, no one can run a spring for 100 minutes straight, and if you can chances are you are on : 1) drugs, 2) aren't human

i have caffeinated gum. i avoid the bladder problem and get the energy. its great stuff.

barnabas, that's really touching you can reiterate that caffeine is a stimulant.

Many people have a high tolerance for caffeine and can support this, obviously however, you are not one of them.

i bring a frappuccino drink and drink it on the break about 1/2way through the test... i find myself starting to to lose focus around section 6

can you eat gum in the room? where we do it, we can't
and no, we're not in singapore.

eat mints. ive heard that they keep you alert and they help stimilate the brain. Frisk! sharpens you up

i dont know if im allowed the gum but i chew it anyway. they never told me i cant so i just do.

thanks for all the responses guys. i just went to the store to buy mints and protein bars. i'm a little iffy on the caffeine just because i feel like it might be risky for me. i guess i'll just bring some water and gatorade or something. shrugs

thanks :]

pot seems to help me relax the most. I fell asleep last time. Now I have to retake :(

chugged a pot of coffee and popped a few caffeine pills.

No, I'm not kidding. My scores went up 200 pts.

don't drink gatorade... it's just sugar. A stomach full of sugar is just gonna make you tired.
