Cal EECS vs. UCLA EE

I got admitted to both and I'm having a tough time choosing between the 2. I've always wanted to go to UCLA because Cal is the stereotype of the asian engineer nerd and I want to break away from that, and UCLA is the next best thing. However, the prestige of Cal is something I really don't want to give up, and my parents and relatives all want me to go. If I go to Cal, will I be able to have a social life? I know some people doing EECS there, and they seem fine and they aren't complete nerds, contrary to many accounts of what I've heard.

Anyone have any insight on the social life, prestige, difficulty, campus environment, or general happiness in both campuses, good and bad?

If you want to do EECS, I would highly recommend Cal's. Our EECS is amazing, and it's ranked at the top with schools like MIT. As long as you want a social life, you'll definitely have one if you come here. I can guarantee that there's more than enough to keep you busy.

Dude, Cal EECS is heads and shoulders over UCLA EECS. I know what you're thinking, and I'm also an Asian male prospective freshman wary of the stereotype. But don't worry so much about turning into a .. loser. It's a huge school. Regardless of whether the dept's full of em, you can always make friends outside of EECS, and the job prospects are fantastic.
