Cal Grant A on hold.

........... I had Cal Grant B before. Now, my Cal Grant A is on hold. UCR Grant got lower. I'm getting the same amount of aid though.

BUT why is it on hold. -_-

Anyone in the same situation? I am f'cking amazed right now.

I found this on a UCLA financial aid website -

If you’re a new Cal Grant applicant and received a letter that states you were placed “on-hold”, you will need to use the Cal Grant Application Correction Form; and provide corrected data.

Complete the G-23 form with all the requested changes, and submit it right away to have further consideration for the Cal Grant. Any delay in returning this form will result in either a delay in the processing of your application or possible disqualification"

[UCLA Financial Aid Office - Cal Grant Questions FAQ’s](http://www.fao.ucla.edu/faqs_calgrant.htm)

I’d check with the UCR offices before I do anything though

heey the same thing happened to me and I don’t know what that means?
Does it mean I wont get any cal grant at all?
Cause If I don’t get it, that means that I will owe 2000 something…

You will get it after you are not on hold anymore.

This is what I found regarding holds. http://www.csac.ca.gov/secured/operationmemos/2009/CalGrantApplicationonHoldNotificationLetter.pdf

Here is the 09-10 correction form: http://www.csac.ca.gov/pubs/forms/grnt_frm/2009_10ApplicationCorrectionFormG_23.pdf

BUT IT SAYS:
Unfortunately, Competitive Cal Grant applicants may not make application corrections after the Competitive Cal Grant award selection is held.

What the awkeajtlawjt. Also, you cannot make changes online. What kind of changes am I supposed to make anyway. Ugggh. :[

oh goodness. ahah what am I suppose to do then. I didn’t get a letter saying that.
I found out that I got cal grant A on hold when I went to current activity …
Im pretty sure I put that I was CA. Resident though
I guess I’ll just call the UCR financial aid office on mon. blaaah.
I just hope I will at least get one of the grant.

What GPA did you need to have to get cal grant A?

3.0 unweighted from high school

Crap!
I was soooo close. 2.8 cuz I messed up freshman and sophomore year.

I messed up my 1st semester of 12

Well, I think it’s 3.0 for both Cal grants. It really just depends on what income you have. All my Cal B friends got changed to Cal A for their schools too. O_o

no pretty sure its gpa im poor and arnie still gave me a B

… I want Cal Grant B :|

why an A is much more

Well it’s about the same.

Cal Grant A = 7k-ish
Cal Grant B = 1.5k first year, then 1.5k + pay for your tuition for the next 3 years (I THINK)

I like the fact that Cal Grant B gives you allowance money… but then it actually goes toward tuition anyway… if you need loans and what not. It’s all very annoying. >:O

For Cal grant B, the GPA requirement is 2.0

I though the B was 1.5k and then it turns into an A

Which Cal Grant is better? Which Cal Grant is harder to get?

When you guys say that your Cal Grants are on hold, does that mean you guys might not get them?

No, Jason. LOL. Then, no one would want Cal Grant B ahaha. Besides, it wouldn’t make sense that the “poor” people get Cal Grant B if Cal Grant A gives more money.

When it’s on hold, it means you didn’t do something such as verify something… or send in enough information… so after you get that business done, you’ll get your grant back.

Before, I thought Cal Grant B was better… but now it doesn’t matter. I always thought ohh damn I’ll get 1.5k allowance money… but then if you need loans… it’s not allowance money anymore. -__-

Cal Grant B does not turn into A.
Depending whats harder to get is circumstantial. Cal Grant A requires 3.0 unweighted GPA and Cal Grant B requires you have “financial problems”
I’d take A over B in freshman year. Plus isnt Cal grant getting killed off after this year

I called in and the guy said it should not be on hold after tomorrow. lolol.
