Cal Grant A vs B

hey guys! So i qualify for both Cal Grant A (gives $12192 for 4 years)and Cal Grant B (freshman year: $1472, rest of the years:$12192+$1472) but I was awarded A. I researched a lot into the different and what I learned that Cal Grant B is more beneficial than Cal grant A. I also qualify for the blue and gold opportunity plan. I called the financial aid office today and they said that if I were to switch from Cal Grant A to Cal Grant B I would no longer be on the blue and gold opportunity plan. Is that possible for me not to get blue and gold opportunity plan just because I decide to switch from Cal Grant A to Cal Grant B.

I don't think that is correct when they say I would not qualify for it if i chose B instead because:

UC's Blue and Gold Opportunity Plan will cover your educational and student services fees if you are a California resident whose family earns less than $80,000 a year and you qualify for financial aid — and that's just for starters. Blue + Gold students with sufficient financial need can qualify for even more grant aid to help reduce the cost of attending.

Any explanations on this would be appreciated!

That sounds like nonsense! You are allowed to switch anytime before the funds are released.

If you know which school you’ll be attending, call the financial aid office again, and ask to speak with a senior financial aid officer - not the student assistant who answers the phone.

If you still get the same answer, contact the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) for help: (888) CA GRANT (888-224-7268). Their email address and other contact info is **[here](http://www.csac.ca.gov/doc.asp?ID=543)[/b].
