Cal Grant Eligibility

Under Section C of my Official Financial award letter, it states i have possible cal grant elibility.

also it states:

IMPORTANT: If CSAC has notified you that you will not be eligible for a Cal Grant, please submit a copy of your Cal Grant Notification Letter to the UCSB Financial Aid Office so we can delete the Possible Cal Grant from your aid package and replace it with other types of aid.

the thing is CSAC didnt send me anything. my friends is under section A but mine is under C.

help!

If CSAC hasn’t sent you anything then you’re fine. They’ll only send you a letter if you suddenly become ineligible… which you don’t want :P

isnt it kinda late that it still says possible cal grant eligibility under section c?

its $7788 worth. my friend’s already went to section A. it hurts my financial status.

what happens if my eligibility is not awarded? is there alternative financial aids? so worried

I guess the best bet would be to call up the Financial Aid Office at (805) 893-2432. They’re closed tomorrow though for an in-service day and on weekends, so try Monday? I always found their office helpful (not their e-mail though).

I was in your position a couple days ago actually. I just checked my aid status a couple minutes ago and my Cal Grant moved from section C to A and looks like it’s been confirmed. Perhaps they’re not updating them all at once? Anyway, I think you should call them to make sure.

Check on the CSAC website. Your award status should be posted. For example, I recieve Cal Grant A. And long before my Cal Grant moved to Section A/ became official, it said next to Cal Grant A the word “AWARDED”.

And yes, you should have been awarded your Cal Grant by now. You should call the financial Aid office.

EDIT: Emailing them should be ok. I emailed them this week about a loan I had accepted and they responded within 12 hours. Two different experiences I guess…

pretend that i dont get the cal grant. is there an alternative to fill the $7788 that i was suppose to be awarded.
i checked the site and it says qualified but not awarded.

am i screwed over that i cannot goto college?

Well, if you are inelligeable, you should contact them ASAP so they can restructure your financial aid. Are you sure you didn’t get a letter saying ur not qualified? Usually when that happens, they just give you more loan options to make up for the Cal Grant.

yes im sure i didnt get any email or mail sent home. i made an accoutn and checked my eligibility and it says qualified but not awarded.

Is there a reason listed for why you did not receive the Cal Grant? Did you turn in the GPA verification form? It should list a reason why you weren’t awarded it if you turned in the GPA form and the FAFSA. It doesn’t say DENIED? I know I turned in the form and was eligible, but I was denied, but UCSB follows a policy that as long as you turned in the Verified GPA form and the FAFSA on time like you were supposed to, then they will try to give you more grants or loans to help make up the difference. If you didn’t, you should contact them and they should try to give you more loans. To be honest, you should have checked this Cal Grant info earlier because it’s pretty late now, and UCSB probably doesn’t have much funds to disburse. Check your status again, look for a reason, and tell me how it goes.

EDIT: can you perhaps take a screenshot of the webgrants for students page? I’ve dealt with this so if I can help you, I just need to see the reason they provide.

dissonacen i posted my screenshot on the other post. cal grants the one with 2 pages.

If you were sent a letter that you are no longer eligible for Cal Grant you were supposed to notify the financial aid office, so they can readjust the amount of aid.

i wasnt notified

I’m guessing you resolved your problem since you didn’t post further about the issue, thickchick. But, I saw your post on the other thread and the Cal Grant award seems to be correct. You were awarded Cal Grant B, the lower amount. The financial aid should make up for the rest. If you were to change from Cal Grant B to Cal Grant A, then they would just lower your financial aid to make up for the larger award, so in the end, you’d probably end up with the same amount of aid, anyway.

no not yet. how can 1150 be same as 7700

on my fin award letter it just says cal grant possible inder section c. cal grant b isnt even under section a

You are not understanding what I’m saying. It might be the same because they might lower your financial aid award which is determined by the amount of cal grant award, scholarships, and other grants you get…
