cal grant problem, any respose is welcome!

Thank you for open my discussion.
Here is my situation, anyone please leave a response. I am a transfer student from a CCC admitted by UCSD, UCSB and several CSUs.I submitted my fafsa before 2nd March, which is the deadline of cal grant.

several days ago I checked my fafsa, and I found I forgot to put UCSD on the school list so I corrected the mistake immediately and it was processed yesterday. Now I wonder if I can not get the cal grant from UCSD.

And there is a weird thing also, I checked my csac status and it shows I do not qualify for any cal grant. And my financial aid from different CSUs are different. CSUF even did not give me any fianacial aid. CPP only gave me federal pell grant, CSUN gave me federal grant and state university grant.

While ucsb financial status shows I am blue and gold and provides me several aid INCLUDING Cal grant A (over $10k). But since I am not qualify for any Cal Grant showed in CSAC(This is really strange since my family’s income is merely not enough $20K in 2015 and we dont have any asset like house, car, etc.), I called the CSAC to ask about the cal grant A I was offered by UCSB and due to my poor English, I did not get what the person said:" That’s the school offered you, not us." and “we could only offer aid to limited number of application.” The officer was really impatient……

The point is that I really want to know if UCSD can give me cal grant, I called UCSD financial aid department but I can not understand those auto options, I tried each opotion and there is no one answered. I sent email to UCSD several days ago but no reply.

I am desperate now and worried UCSB may take away the cal grant after I go there.
Anyone, please, leave your thoughts. I appreciate your response.

Receiving the Cal-Grant as a transfer student moving from a community college to a four-year school is dependent upon filing the 2017-2018 FAFSA by March 2nd (which you said you have done) AND your community college submitting your CCC GPA to the CSAC. Have you confirmed that your community college submitted your GPA to CSAC?

yes the csac status showed my GPA is verified on time.

@kgos16 , yes the csac status showed my GPA is verified on time.

Can you contact the CSAC with your questions?

@mommdc I called them and they said I am not eligible for any cal grant ,while ucsb give me cal grant A so I am confused.

Did you ask why?

@mommdc I did,the person said :“It’s the schoold give you ,not us.” This is really a conflict, cal grant is from CSAC, why did he say it is given by school.

Well the eligibility for Cal grant would have to come from the CSAC, because they administer it.

Then maybe try to talk to someone at the school FA office.

@mommdc Yes, I’m heading to la jolla tomorrow to see the UCSD FA advisor. Thank you for your response

Hopefully they will be able to help you.

The Cal Grant program is overwhelmed with requests for funds. They do run out of money:

You may not get anything from UCSD if they were not originally listed on the form by March 2nd.

Make sure you ask.
