I was not awarded any of the Cal Grants as an incoming college freshman. Am I eligible for Cal Grants in the future?

I believe you have one more chance to qualify. You are eligible to apply for Cal Grants for one full year after graduating from high school. I believe that means you could apply for the grants again next year, so that you’d receive them your sophomore year, but I’m not certain of that.

It might be worth your while to contact the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) directly to ask them what your options are:

[California Student Aid Commission](http://www.csac.ca.gov/doc.asp?ID=543)

The phone number is (888) CA GRANT (888-224-7268).

Each year you submit the FAFSA and you are determined whether you meet CalGrant requirements. If you don’t qualify one year, that has no bearing on whether you would qualify in future years. In fact, you may be more eligible in future years as savings assets most likely declines.

Are you going to a UC? Is your family income under $80k? What is your EFC?
