Ahh, didn’t notice that. That would explain it hehe.

I can’t even log in. I entered my info correctly and filed a FAFSA. weird?

buuuuuuump

does anyone know when the deadline to fill out the form to get the hold lifted is? I’m still not 100% sure of where I’ll be next year and it requires where im going to be next year to fill out the form.

I’m so glad I found this… I’m a calgrant virgin as well.

I’m currently at a CC and I want to change my listed school for next school year but it won’t let me… I guess I have to wait for at least a week? Funny thing is, the school they have listed is my “second” choice school. I say second because when I did the fafsa, I randomly put whichever schools I thought I would be applying to for spring/winter 2011.

Maybe I should just call…

Good luck calling…i’ve been trying for the past week ! …I ended up sending in the paper form.

They’ve picked up every time I called. I had to wait 15+ minutes though.

I am so worried because on the website it says" cal grant not awarded but I meet all the requirements and when I log on my UCSD application if says I am awarded a Cal grant A of 10382 $. The only thing on the website is that it shows SDSU as the school listed and not UCSD. I don’t know what is going on but without a cal grant I will not be able to attend UCSD, my EFC is 0.

@gaiou37 Same for me!

I am calling them right now i’m on hold lol
I will let you know what they tell me if I get to talk to them

I just called and apparently I am 6 points below the cotoff of 163 points I need to qualify for a grant. I feel like dying right now I can’t believe this.

If you did not qualify for the cal grant, ur ucsd grant will be significantly higher, hope it turns out good when official award letters come out good luck!

^I agree… as long as you qualify for Blue&Gold, then I think the money you would have gotten from the Cal Grant will probably be provided by that UC fund.

@Gaiou I asked financial aid about not qualifying for the Cal Grant at the transfer admit day. She said that if it showed possible Cal Grant on the Preliminary Financial Aid, and the cal grant was denied, then the UCSD Grant would then bump up to the total of the original award. For me, I had 10,300 for Cal Grant and about 8000 for UCSD grant, she said now my UCSD grant would bump up to 18,300 because my Cal Grant was denied.

how do we use the cal grant that was reserved for the past 2 years!?

@gaiou37 Wait a minute, doesn’t everyone get a Cal Grant? Isn’t that why they’re called “entitlement” awards. I know they have Cal Grant Competitive Awards, too. I thought that’s what the cutoff score was for???

No the cutoff was for everyone! I am so mad! I have a 3.9 gpa and my EFC is 0 and I am still not getting it. I mean, my parents passed away when I was 17, which is the reason why my EFC is 0, you would think they would help me, but no. I am so frustrated right now.

OMG I just read the previous posts and it gave me hope. I will go to the UCSD financial aid office tomorrow and check. Thanks for the info guys!
