So, I requested my school to send this way back on the 2nd of Feb. I checked the status of my cal grant tonight and it says they still haven't received it. Is there a way I can handle this myself? Frankly, I don't trust my school with any of this stuff.

fill out the paper version and send it urself. go to the post office to mail it and get a certificate of mailing for proof of submission

how do I go about the actual GPA verification though? my school makes such a convoluted process out of the entire thing, its annoying.

Sorry to interrupt, but I have a couple really quick questions. Is there an income eligibility requirement for the Cal Grant? Are there any other important requirements? I think I’m going to apply this weekend. We have to also fill out a FAFSA, right?

^^ Fafsa is a definite requirement for Cal Grant. Yes there is an income consideration for Cal Grant as well. I recommend getting on that ASAP.

ps. thanks for the hijack emil hahah

i haven’t done it yet, but jsut login to the calgrant site and dl the gpa verification form and give it to ur FA office to fill it out and then just mail it. i’m gonna do mine tommorrow too. i think that’s all we do. are we supposed to send something to each individual school or just to the Commission?

^^ it says “not recieved by the commission” so im assuming we just send it to the commission. dont hold me to it. let me confirm

@ Lakers i dont know if you are going to a CC in LA but go check with your school to see if they automatically submit it for you…I go to Pierce and they said most schools electronically send it for you automatically

@SFWarrior, sorry man, didn’t mean to hijack :). Just had a couple questions lol. Thanks for the help though! I’m guessing that my family income would then make me ineligible for the Cal Grant then if it’s generally considered high? (I promise last question).

quick question.

my father claims me on his taxes and subsidizes my existence while I’m in school. I live with my mother who is near my school and is incapable of claiming me and I do pay rent. I visit my father several times each month as he’s not that far away. Who’s income do I go off of for this sort of stuff?

@xelink,

I’ve always wondered about a situation like that. You should really contact FAFSA as the deadline is nearing. They have really good phone service @ 1-800-433-3243.

i just did a bunch of research at my school (Cuesta) and the head of the records department said that they send them all automatically on march 2nd. Cuesta gets a list of students (presumably those who filled out a fafsa) and they send the gpa of everyone on the list.

I assume this is how most colleges do it.

I have a question. Sorry if this has been asked already.

What is meant by a school “automatically” submitting your GPA verification? If you’ve filled out a FAFSA and your school automatically sends your GPA verification in to the Commission, do you have to go to the Financial Aid office and request that they do it before it is sent? Or will they take care of it automatically without a student having to go and ask? Thx.

by “automatically”, i mean that you don’t have to do anything (except fill out FAFSA) and they will send the GPA verification. I’m not sure, but i think this is how most schools do it.

Perfect! Thanks for the info, Absurdmike. When I called my school, they said that the GPA verification is sent out automatically after the student fills out a FAFSA, so I think you’re right. Thanks again!

My Webgrants website is showing that they haven’t received my FAFSA… But my FAFSA was processed last week. Anyone else have this problem?

^^ it took mine about 2 weeks for it to show up.

Mine shows they have received my FAFSA, but not my GPA verification. I should probably follow up with my school about that. Do any of yours have a check mark already?

Oh also, for college of attendance, it only shows UCLA…I wonder if it is suppose to show the rest of the campuses I applied to as well?

i just checked my status and it looks like my school already verified my GPA. cool beans.

Nice, but does it list all the schools you applied to, or just one?
