Cal Housing - "Can you see the Application" list

OK, so the hot topic in the UC Thread has been the Cal Housing matter. For those of you who were too busy or lazy to read through the going-ons there, here's a very brief summary of what had been going on:

<a href="https://services.housing.berkeley.edu/ResHall/LoginSlct.asp%5B/url%5D">https://services.housing.berkeley.edu/ResHall/LoginSlct.asp</a></p>

The above address leads you to the Housing Logon page. Some people were able to logon and see the Application page where as some people could logon but could not see it (I think that's what I heard).

The issue at hand is: If you can see the housing application, does that mean you are admitted?

Note: On the top of the page where you logon, you'll be able to see a notice saying:
Newly Admitted Undergraduate Students - You can get your 2007-2008 Residence Halls Application started now by entering your "My Berkeley" application ID and password below and clicking "Submit"
The phrase "Newly Admitted Undergraduate Students" is what's giving everyone the hope that this could be THE HINT to know in advance whether you are admitted or not.

Some "discoveries" so far:

-Once you logon, you'll be able to see your 8-digit CalNet ID number. So far, everyone who is able to see the application had the first two digit of their CalNet ID Number as either "17" or "18". HOWEVER, not everyone with their CalNET starting with 17/18 could see the application.
-NONE of the people with their CalNet ID number starting with 19 could see the application.

I would like to start a list to see who can see the application and who can't. After that, we'll compare it to the actual decision we get on April 30 to see whether this whole Cal Housing thing was actually related to our decision. If it is, it will be useful for all the future transfer hopefuls to know their result in advance and we will get a Nobel Prize for our discovery. If it turns out that this isn't related what-so-ever, well... we had good time discussing it :)

I'll start off.
Please mention your CalNet ID # when you post:

Can see the Housing Application:

dhl3 - 18######

Can not see the Housing Application:

i think 19s should mention the 3rd #, maybe it will tell the order in which 19s will get decisions?

You should also add in that every 17 and 18 able to view the housing application had previously applied to Berk as a HS senior.

startraksfinest, someone in the UC thread had mentioned that he was able to see the application and he never applied to Berkeley as HS senior.

^really? Do you remember the post # or the person's username?

Shpeel, read the first post, it tells you where your Cal ID is.

how the hell do you even get a cal id

i havent visited this place in awhile and this **** is tripping me out

My ID starts with an 18, and I can see the app. I also did apply out of high school, but I don't think that it matters.

^ my ID starts with an 18. I can see the apps. I applied during fall 04 for fall 05.

I think it does. So far, no one who DID NOT apply out of HS can see the app.

As dhl said, I remember someone saying that they could see the app even though they didn't apply out of high school. I'll try to comb through the thread to find it.

We should have a format:

See the app?:
First two digits of CalID#:
Did you apply out of HS?:
College GPA:
Major:
Prereqs completed:
Current School:

COPY, PASTE, FILL OUT, then we can get some results.

you forgot about prereqs

No COE can access the housing application so far. That is relevant.

even COEers who applied out of HS?

do you remember okaybear... applied out of HS, has either a 17 or 18, and CANNOT see the application. So how is this tied to applying in high school?

<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=243276&page=245%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=243276&page=245</a></p>

absolutely none.

I know about 17's and 18's who applied out of HS and cannot see the app - okaybear and insamniac.

I asked if any first time applicants COULD see the app. It really doesn't matter to me, but there are a lot of first time applicants who are freaking out because they can't see it. My thinking is that since they are first timers, they haven't been inputted into the system, thus can't see the housing app.

And diamond, check the housing app. Does it have your OLD HS information pre-inserted? A lot of those people who can see the app have their old HS information pre-inserted, meaning there is some connection to applying out of hs.

Well, I haven't moved or anything, so my address is the same since I applied in high school. Is there any other indicator of old HS information besides address on there?

Email address

yeah, it's an old e-mail address.
