I was very interested in attending Cal Poly in the fall, and it was my first choice school, but since California’s economic situation I have been unsure about attending. I do not want to attend the school and feel short changed because of budgets cuts and reducing the number staff members. I was wondering if anyone had any insight into what Cal Poly might be experiencing, and their status with budget cuts, ect. I am out of state, so some of this information is a little harder for me to get.
Thanks

You're already accepted,right?

Yes I have been accepted.

I heard the OOS tuition is actually not that bad. As long as you're on top of things, I think you can graduate on time.

I would not be surprised to see tuition hikes of 10% per year to make up for the budget problems. You may want to get some extra GE classes out of the way by taking some at nearby Cuesta College.

by the way, California cutting 10% of funding to CSU yet again. So tuition fees will rise 7-10% again.

Next year they're planning on increasing registration by $100/quarter, the next year $200/quarter, etc...

I doubt there will be many states that will be able to dodge this bullet. The only hope is that the availability of financial aid will loosen up.

Fees are going up. Staff being cut. Classes are becoming harder to get, and more students per class. Financial aid is harder to get. Its a grim picture. But not only at Cal Poly SLO. It is a common problem these days in this economy.

Yeah, but over the last year, Cal Poly actually reduced its enrollment by a thousand.
