Cal Poly Computer Science vs UCSD Math/Computer Science

Hey so I have been accepted to UCSD Math/Computer Science and Cal Poly Computer Science and I am trying to decide which one I want to go to. Anyone have any thoughts on pros or cons of each one? I am also waiting on UCSB Comp Sci, so I guess weigh in on that as well. Right now I think I am leaning towards Cal Poly because I think it might be a better education and have better job opportunities after graduation, but I like the location of UCSD better and I feel that it is a little bit more prestigious.

Hi there, it depends on what you are looking for.

The UCSD program is much stronger in theory, while the Cal Poly program focuses on practicality and industry use. As such, CP is much better for job opportunities (there were 80 other interns from Cal Poly the summer I interned at Apple) and UCSD will provide better opportunities for graduate school.

You can look on this page for the results of the graduating seniors and it should indicate the strong bias towards getting big tech industry jobs.
