Cal Poly or UC Davis computer science?

Hi, I’m an out of state student who was accepted into the comp sci major at the two schools mentioned.
UCD has always been one of my “dream schools” (I did visit the campus in February and found it to be quite nice) but I’ve heard that the school was more famous for like it’s agricultural programs more than for its engineering. However for Cal Poly, the computer science, that I heard, was better?

I don’t know, I’m interested in comp. sci and my problem is, I don’t like how in Cal Poly, you can’t really switch majors. So if I ended up regretting my CS decision, then I’d have to stay there. However, I’ve heard that the job prospects were really nice…

I don’t know, what do you guys think? I’ve never lived in California before so I don’t know their reputation there…But…anyway, it’d be great if you guys could give me some input!

I asked a similar question on cal poly’s reddit subforum, the answers are pretty insightful so do check it out!

Cal Poly SLO.

-Cheaper, better investment.
-Very close to the beach
-Amazing undergrad reputation. Tons of employers come to Cal Poly.
-You can still switch majors if you’re persistent and not trying to transfer into a major you wouldn’t have qualified for while being admitted.
-Amazing campus.

CP is second behind Berkeley for earning potential for CSC majors.

what were your stats to get into ucd and cal poly from out of state?

As a CP SLO CS alum, and still employed in the field, if you want CS, go with CP. I don’t think I even knew that Davis had a CS program. Weather is better in SLO than Davis.
