ok so i got rejected from UCI SB and Davis so now I am stuck with my safties, Cal Poly Pomona, Uc Riverside, or San Jose State, for a major in either Statistics or Economics. Which school would you guys recommend? or should i go to community college for 2 years and TAG to a more respectable UC.
UC riverside isnt my ideal idea of a school in terms of location and it is a bit pricey for what it is worth, but it it gives me a bit better chance to transfer.
Cal Poly Pomona and San Jose State are cheaper but i am worried the degree i get wont be as valuable from these schools.
Community college would be the most worthwhile route in terms of cost and prestige of my degree assuming I dont mess up, but i am worried about not getting the classes i need to transfer due to class sizes and the college life seems like it would be less enjoyable.
I have a few friends in a similar boat so i would greatly appreciate the help. thank you

oh yeah i have 4 passed ap exams and taking 4 more this may if that helps.
(us world english stats -chem gov ap art 3d and lit) and I cant decide between pomona and san jose in terms of location (silicon valley vs pomona) and prestige.

I would recommend a CC. I know plenty of people who do well at CC and go on to good UCs. Plus you save money.

thanks lily! anybody else?

Where are you located? Would you have to dorm? I have friends at both and love both! Remember transferring in 2 years is not a guarantee!

30 mins away from pomona, yeah community colleges are so full… and id dorm in san jose but not pomona. i was also thinking aobut the internship oppritunities of san jose,

I go to Cal Poly Pomona. Employers like Cal Poly Pomona grads if you’re doing some kind of science-related field. They love engineers that come from here. You will receive a fine education going here. I went to a community college for three years.

I suggest you go to a community college if you can find one where it’s easy to get classes and transfer on up to a top UC. Shoot high. Some have an honors program that helps you get into UCLA.

thanks alot caldud, im thinking of going to visit the actual community colleges and talking to counselors there., im doing economics or statistics (math related) so its not really science based… but your answer helped alot
