Cal Poly P vs Long Beach

I am a freshman at Cal Poly P. As much as I like the college (I really do), I have given it my best shot and tried everything it offers. Unfortunately, I am somewhat unsatisfied with my experience there. :frowning: I am taking transferring into consideration; I am thinking of Long Beach.

I am going to be a Business CIS major. How’s Long Beach? What’s their business program/social life/campus like? Which school is better? Should I stay at Cal Poly P? LMAO. Right now I am trying to compare/contrast both schools.
advice is appreciated xx :slight_smile:

what about CPP aren’t you satisfied with? and what about LB do you think makes it better for you?

Hi there! To make it short, I want to be well rounded. I take not only my academics seriously but my social college experience too. I am out of state girl and want to avoid loneliness.
In terms of my classes, they’re great and the professors at CP are caring and reliable. However, the social life there is pretty challenging. Most people and my friends go home. I joined few clubs and went to some meetings, and no one there was welcoming so I felt pretty uncomfortable.
I believe LB’s business > than CP’s? But I also heard CP is better than LB. I’m confused atm lmao I need some insight. :slight_smile:

A couple of things - first, transferring between CSUs is possible but, only as a Jr and most of the spaces are taken by local Community College applicants. So, you can apply but, you’ll need the right classes and a high GPA (maybe 3.5?) to transfer.

Academically, they are comparable - you sound happy with CPP’s biz program. I’d counsel you to

i think you will also find LB to be pretty similar socially. most people live off campus and commute -at both schools people sit in traffic rather than hang out on campus. The other CP, and Chico are in college towns so, the area around campus is very student dense - In the greater LA area, that’s not possible. You have to work harder to find fellow CPP students. I’d try some of the on-campus music/movie nights, basketball games and more active clubs, maybe a sorority and perhaps something like Delta Sigma Pi - a co-ed biz fraternity.

@memerual
I saw that CPP just opened dorms for 1,000 students. I’m not sure if this means that there are a 1,000 more students living on campus, but have the new dorms improved the social situation?
