I am a Senior in HS right now, going to Junior College this fall, and i need to decide which CSU i will be transferring to for my BS. I am going to major in Business Administration, focusing on CIS (Computer Information Systems), not to be confused with Computer Science, totally different. I was planning on going to CSULA because they have a full CIS major instead of just a minor, they are the least expensive csu, and i was under the assumption they were somewhat of a party school or had a good social student life. Now, Pomona is sounding very attractive, and Long Beach is also on my list for some reason. Either way, im going to live on campus, just to get away from home. I want a school that has a great student social life, lots of clubs and fraternities, and occasional parties (possibly on campus). Dont get me wrong, i am going to work hard and play hard after, lol. In short, i dont really want a quiet, small commuter school. I believe Pomona looks nice, which is important to me, and its supposedly the second best STEM CSU, right under Cal Poly SLO. Although, i hear Pomona is small and quiet, is this true? Please help me choose and clarify. Thanks!

Just apply to all of them. No sense in deciding at this point. All have the same transfer requirements.

I agree - do your best at the CC and apply broadly in a couple of years. You may want to add Chico to the list. They too have a good CIS program. The course requirements are very similar across the CSU system - though the GPA threshold varies.
Take the opportunity over the next 2 years to visit each campus and see which one is most appealing.

Thanks, both of you guys. I decided Pomona is my goal, and im going to do everything i have to and can to get accepted there after CC. When i posted this, i thought i had to work towards only one college and major in CC, is that actually how it is? Im going to fulfill the Golden 4 and IGETC, are those the same regardless of which college is chosen for after CC? Also, im probably wrong, but how do i complete all the required classes needed for different colleges? Like what if one CSU requires (lets just say…) MAT 100 and another requires MAT 101, but i only take 100 or 101? Is that how it works? Im so confused. D:

Prior to enrolling at your CC, be sure to make an appointment with a Transfer counselor. If you can, try to develop a relationship with someone on the Transfer staff. They should be your new best friends.
The Transfer office will have all of the answers you need as far as which classes qualify for IGETC, AA, or UC vs. CSU transfer. They can also discuss any transfer agreement guarantee’s (TAG) that you may become eligible for.

Since you have a solid year and a half prior to submitting your applications, your thoughts and needs regarding your degree completion (and where) may change. My advice is to stay on your positive transfer path, but to remain open and flexible about where you may end up.

Best of luck to you.
