Hello! I recently got accepted into Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State Fullerton for Business and I do not know what to decide. I know that Fullerton is known for Business but a lot of people are telling me that Cal Poly Pomona is a better school in general. They are both an hour and a half away from my house so I would have to live in the dorms. I also visited both of them and noticed that the Pomona area is not as nice as Fullerton. It seemed unsafe. Also, Fullerton would be cheaper in the long run because I could live in the apartment right next to the school. On the other hand, Pomona is the only university that has everything I am deciding between. I know I want to do business but I am deciding between finance, real estate and law which Pomona has a major that includes all three. Any other information can help!! Thank you!!
Law is not an undergrad degree.
As for which is best, IMHO its going to be more what you do then the name on the diploma. Neither school carries the weight of putting Stanford or Penn on your resume. But if you get good grades, take part in student groups related to business and get leadership positions, network with your fellow students in these clubs, and most importantly get internships then you’ll be well positioned when you graduate.
Lesson #1 in life: you need to make up your own mind. It sounds like you have a preference for Fullerton. You can disappoint your friends or let them decide for you, your choice. Nor is their any reason to believe your HS friends have any real insight into what a “better” school is. I guarantee you there is a group of kids at a HS near you that have come to the opposite conclusion and believe Fullerton is the better school. What you’re hearing is just luck of the draw.
