I was recently accepted into Cal Poly Pomona and Carnegie Mellon for architecture and I can’t decide which school is the better option. I feel like Carnegie’s architecture program is not as structured in that internship hours are not required and it is more of an artistic program. However, Cal Poly Pomona’s program is more technical and more well known in Southern California (where I am from). Does anyone have some input on which school is the better option in the long run?
Both have NAAB-accredited 5-year BArch programs.
How does cost and debt compare (remember, 5 years)? Do you plan to work in southern California after graduation?
The costs of both schools for me after financial aid cost about the same. I do plan on working in Southern California after graduation.
If you’re planning on working in Southern California after college, then I think Cal Poly Pomona would be better, esp. for connections/networking.
