Hey there homies! I am a CS major accepted into CPP and I was wondering if you guys thought CPP would be better than UCSC for computer science. If you could give me some advice on the surrounding city, campus life, education quality, facilities, job & internship prospects, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!
I only got one internship when I was at Cal Poly Pomona. I worked in investments as a math major. It was alright, but I have no idea about the computer science program there. I only know that the year I got admitted was the last year they accepted a good heap of computer science majors and started making it more selective.
I know nothing about UCSC. I didn’t even apply there because I heard it was a stoner school. I heard Cal Poly Pomona was a STEM school, so that’s where I went.
I thought my in major education was challenging and great. I also enjoyed my general education classes that I took there.
From what I remember, it was always quite crowded during the day. The engineering building is a little old, but it is alright.
You should not have trouble getting a good internship if you’re actually doing well here. I know a computer science sophomore when I was a senior that was going to be interning at JPL.
I’ve been out of school two years and I have been a programmer during that time. I was not even a computer science major and was hired out of state. Not quite sure why, but a lot of people I meet seem to be impressed here in Kentucky at where I got my degree from.
Ucsc 's program is better in some fields and less overcrowded, but essentially cpp is solid too.
How much does each cost before loans?
CPP is dirt cheap eh? And also @caldude, thanks!
