Hi,
So I applied to Cal Poly Pomona a while ago. My status says “Ready for Decision”. Do I have chances of getting in?
OOS- Washington
My CSU GPA: 3.78 (It would be higher if I were living in California, because I can’t weight it w/ honor classes I have taken)
SAT: 640 R, 620 M, 690 W -----------> 1260 CR + M
My SAT math is kinda low, but it is what it is…
AP classes:
-AP Physics B
-AP Calculus B (THIS YEAR)
-AP World History
-AP Human Geography (THIS YEAR)
-AP Computer Science (THIS YEAR)
-AP Biology (THIS YEAR)
I’ve applied as a computer science major. I have been accepted to SDSU in CS, so what are my chances of getting into Cal Poly Pomona with these stats?
Thank you so much!!
Do you have all the classes recommended for admission?
You are a definite Match. Good Luck.
@albert69, yes I have! However, I’m in the process of taking my fourth year of english and history!
btw, will it hurt me because I am out of state?
Good, then I wouldn’t worry too much about getting in. It’s probably changed some, but when my parents went there, it was really easy to get into.
@enigmaaaa123: The only problem with being OOS, is that you will receive little to no financial aid if needed to attend. You will be expected to be full-pay.
@gumbymom, thanks for the info. My dad will be moving to Ca in March because of his job, will I be considered in state for tuition then?
Take a look at this for residency determination rules: https://secure.csumentor.edu/planning/high_school/residence_classification.asp You have to be a resident for one year prior to the determination. So you are going to be OOS for at least your freshman year (assuming you get in). If your dad really moves to CA for work in March of 2015, then by Fall 2016 it looks like you may be able to apply to be reclassified. Once your dad moves, make sure you list his new CA residence as your residence on all college records, driver’s license, voting records etc. I’d physically move some stuff in there too and physically live with him in summer 2015 and 2016, get a summer job in CA, etc. If this is make or break for you, then I’d thoroughly investigate this and not rely on anonymous answers on CC, however well intentioned they may be.
Thank you, @Corinthian, I shall definitely be looking into this and I’ll talk to the college!
If you got into SDSU, you will almost certainly be admitted to CP Pomona. In-state/out of state can be tricky. Tread carefully and talk directly to people at the schools who know the rules.
Good luck.
@NCalRent, so it’s a LOOOONG time, and I still haven’t heard back from CP Pomona. It still says “Ready for Decision”. Is this a problem???
I don’t know why they are so slow - but, you aren’t the only one waiting.
@enigmaaaa123 So did the "ready for decision"mean anything?
