@pleasantondad in years past CP SLO used housing scaricity as an incentive to commit. Send in your deposit now to be assured first pick of dorms later. Not sure if that’s still the case. Perhaps someone else can comment on the situation with forcing 3 into a space designed for two? Did a housing reminder come with the acceptance?
I am a transfer student and have no been given a decision, I am very worried. Should I be???
Are you sure about that? My student hasnt gotten word - portal still says “decision pending” however many of her friends were accepted yesterday so she is assuming she didn’t get in.
Are more acceptances coming? Do they come in rounds/waves?
@parentinquiry if her friends from her high school have heard and her portal is unchanged, its probably not good news. However in years past, there have beef waves of second tier admissions closer to the deadline. The wait until the last day to post declines.
I have seen many people post that stats does not count for advanced math and rigor points. I called admission yesterday to verify. In fact it does count. I asked it 4 different ways and the gentleman said yes it counts.
@JAA2222 none of the transfer applicants have received decisions yet. We have a separate thread:

@momneeds2no my freshman son is in a double room in the red bricks (he and his roommate both were ED and turned their housing applications in as soon as it opened last year). Most of the rooms seem to be triples, so I think there’s a lot of incentive to accept and put the housing application in as early as possible.
Is the housing deposit nonrefundable? We are still waiting for the UCs.
Thx for your reply Momneeds2no. Thats what we suspected. I find it disheartening that CalPoly doesn’t support or consider good students who are well rounded and serve their community into the mix. Particularly those whose parents pay to support their livelihood…but I suppose this is old news and a common complaint from many Californians. Thank you again for the information.
@parentinquiry , “Particularly those whose parents pay to support their livelihood”…?
Are you saying you don’t think Cal Poly should have need-blind admissions?
@aquapt please. don’t confuse need blind with transparent procedures. Cal states are NOT tution dependent institutions. Rather they are supported by California tax payers. Therefore should have some accountability and transparent disclosure to “those who pay to support thier livelihood.”
Largely Cal States are attractive because of the subsidized tutition. Add in non-institution $$$ FA from the FAFSA and Cal grants and you can understand why so families apply.
@aquapt there’s considerable evidence to support the proposition that CAL Ploy SLO is not “need blind” at all. (if you buy into the MCA secret sauce theory.) In fact by awarding extra points, CpSLO gives preference to underserved demographics.
Housing application is not open it, opens in march so you can’t put in a deposit rn.
Anyone that wants to be my roommate and live in cerro vista hm @juliavanboening Twitter/Instagram B-)
@momneeds2no - I may have misunderstood. Sure, I think accountability & transparency to applicants and the parents who support them (most of whom are also CA taxpayers) makes total sense. That statement looked to me like perhaps it meant that families who could pay more tuition should get preferential admissions. But I wasn’t sure of the meaning, which is why I asked for clarification.
@momneeds2no; thanks for sharing, an educated opinion is better info than what were getting ( or not getting) from our email inquiries to the college. Still confused and frustrated at admission of applicants with lower stats than our daughter but remain hopeful that the next round will provide her admission.
so will Tuesday be the next wave?
This might sound stupid, but the acceptance notification is “Congratulations, you have been selected for admission to Cal Poly pending your meeting the following Terms and Conditions. Click on the link for further information.” Shouldn’t it be “you meeting the following…” instead of “your”? It seems almost scam-ish because it’s grammatically incorrect
Please take what you read here with a grain of salt. Some people will post speculation as fact because of their own personal experience. Fwiw…where ever you end up is where you’re meant to be and no need to be upset about where you didn’t get in since most likely you wouldn’t have been a good fit anyway :)>-
