Cal Poly Regular Decision Thread 2016-2017

Right?? Lol.

@talguy if you don’t mind me asking, do you remember what your child’s alternate major was? Maybe she will be accepted into that?

@dogrunner1 Sadly, a similar major equally challenging. Micro biology.

@talguy

@talguy

?

Actually, @Momofsenior2017 Cal poly admits three times the number of students that will accept so the waitlist is more of a buffer past that. And getting off the waitlist is like winning the lottery. In 2015 1888 students were sent the waitlist letter while only 134 students were admitted from this list. If anyone is still holding out hope, they should hope that they DON’T get a waitlist offer. While I don’t expect another wave of acceptance, there could perhaps be more of a “trickle” based on what happened last year. And just as an fyi, last year waitlists started trickling in on this day (Feb 23, 2016) with a mass wave of waitlist emails on 2/28. This followed by rejections on March 1 with a few (but very few) acceptances peppered in. That being said, comparing this year to last year could be like comparing apples to oranges since admissions has had many changes overall.

@talguy I’m a bio major as well with a 4.4 GPA and a 1350 SAT with loads of extracurriculars. I am instate and have not heard

@talguy sorry, for some reason it wouldn’t post my comment. I just wanted to say best of luck to your daughter.

@Goolia66 That’s true but last year is different from this year. Last year they had early decision and this year they took it out. That may have an effect on acceptance waves and I heard that more acceptances should be coming out even during March.

thanks and congrats on your acceptance!

Yes @Badrobot899, I too believe that this could be true. That is why I said in my post…“That being said, comparing this year to last year could be like comparing apples to oranges since admissions has had many changes overall”

Have any more environmental engineers heard anything?

@Tmouse the one’s I know of that were waiting with me have been accepted into their alternate major.

Nothing from kinesiology

@santafriedrice, I did see another random post from an individual who was accepted for Kinesiology on 2/19.

Any Computer or Electrical engineering majors hear anything?

She was OOS though!! @Goolia66 I’ve also seen one transfer but that’s it

Any Liberal Studies acceptances come out lately?

The admissions office voicemail states that all applicants will be notified by April 1st. I REALLY want to know if in state kinesiology acceptances have been released yet. It seems odd to me that there hasn’t been mention of anyone on this thread receiving info on kinesiology aside from transfer & oos…
