What is the range for a competetive eligibility index to get into cal poly slo for engineering?
SLO does not use the eligibility index. They use an MCA score and their GPA includes 9-11th grades vs. 10-11th grades used by the rest of the CSU’s. If you want calculate your MCA score, check this link:

An MCA score of 4700+ has been competitive for Engineering but again no guarantees.
thank you. by any chance do you know if they recalculate your gpa or use the one I put down because I think that the gpa that I put was my csu gpa instead of putting down the gpa that factored in my freshman year grades which cal poly takes into account
They will recalculate your GPA based on your self reported grades for 9th-11th grades.
Think 4+ GPA and 1350+ SAT. There is more to it than that but, it is a good start.
