**cal poly slo fall 2016 transfer thread**

Just send in final grades after this semester

I’m also at transfer, with a question regarding transcripts. For “Transfer Terms and Conditions,” it lists two items regarding transcripts.

One is: Submit official transcripts **at time of notification of admission/b from all colleges and universities attended.

Two is: Final transcripts, including grades for the previous Spring term must be received by July 15th to validate Fall term admission. Failure to submit final transcripts by the deadline may result in a delay in your registration date and limited class availability or cancellation of your admission.

They bolded what I bolded.

The first stipulation has no deadline, but obviously they ask that it be sent in “at time of notification of admission.” Does anyone have any more insight into when this needs to be in by? I’ve attended 7 community colleges so it’s a ton of work/money getting transcripts sent in and since Cal Poly is my backup school, I’d prefer to wait until April to see if I get into my first choice, rather than going through the motions/$$$ of something that is potentially unnecessary.

What is your first choice?

Berkeley Haas.

I’m grateful for being accepted to Cal Poly (and I’m sure it’s not typically looked up as a “backup school”) and I’ve heard great things about the program/school. My wife is a Cal Poly alum as well (Tourism, Parks, and Recreation) and I know she’d like to get back down there, but my first choice is Haas.

I feel pretty strong about my Haas application as I have a really unique background and have received some encouraging feedback from transfer counselors at Berkeley, but ~90 transfer admissions per year from 1,500+ applicants makes it a bit of a crapshoot.

I applied to Sonoma State as well (and a few other random UCs), and SSU required transcripts to be sent in within 2 months of them receiving my application. Having attended 7 community colleges (2 out of state) and with all of them having vastly different systems in place (some done online, some needing a letter sent in, etc.), it was time consuming and ended up costing over $100. I’d like to only have to do that one more time

Im a psych major as well and still haven’t heard back. Do you know many others who are in the same major as us and have already gotten in?? The thread says liberal arts majors comes out on the 29th for transfers but I’m nervous especially if you already heard back. @muffinpoptarte

I applied as a transfer for sociology major for fall 2016 and still haven’t gotten a decision yet. It still says no decisions have been made at this time. did i get denied?

@ntweeter congrats on your acceptance! I’m a psych major as well transferring in as a junior and still haven’t heard back  I have a 3.76 GPA and if all goes well will have a 3.8 at the end of this semester. Do you know if there is still a chance for the psych majors? I’m going by this… http://admissions.calpoly.edu/communications/stage4yield.html but it seems like its not accurate.

@ssm24k No… that means that they haven’t made a decision yet. Still a week or so left, you’re fine.

@calpoly101 I think that’s when they finalize all admission decisions for transfer students.

I just got an email saying I was admitted. My portal changed though about a week ago saying I got in.

I mention this as I know people were asking about emails.

I’m really glad to have been accepted, but I was wondering does it bother anyone else that we have to decide by May 1st?? We don’t hear back from UC’s until April 29th!!! That gives me two days to decide… grateful anyways and congratulations to everyone

I’m a sociology major and just checked my portal today to see I was accepted. Not sure when they updated it for me

Got accepted!

Major: Electrical Engineering
IGETC: will be completed by the end of spring
Major Prep: one missing ( general chemistry)
GPA: 3.60
ECs: None

Applied: CSUF, CSULB, Cal Poly Pomona, Cal Poly SLO, UCI, UCLA, UCSB, UCSD
Accepted: CSULB, Cal Poly SLO

I am just wondering. What does it mean to be ‘conditionally’ accepted?

@LiquidSoap “I am just wondering. What does it mean to be ‘conditionally’ accepted?”

Did you not bother to click the only link on the page that said you were admitted? Or Google the answer? I mean, I know the answer and I don’t want to sound like a dick, but if you’ve just been accepted into a great university I trust that you’re resourceful enough to take the same amount of time you took to post the question to search (or click the link in front of your eyes) to find it.

The answer is very important, so make sure you find out and understand every detail of it.

Just means unless you fail out of high and don’t get your diploma you will get in.

Major: Environmental Managment and Protection
IGETC: completed; over 60 transferable units
GPA: about 3.3
I recieved a conditional acceptance email and am a little worried because I ended up taking a lower level biology class (Principles of Biology) this semester than stated in my application and the terms say you must take all planned classes that you’ve stated in your application. Last semester I took a higher level biology class on concepts of diversity, evolution, and ecology and found it challenging so I felt it would be better for me to not take the second biology class on cells, genetics, and organisms. Since the biology class that I said I was planning on enrolling in but did not is a major course, I’m worried that it will cause my application to be rescinded. I honestly didn’t think I would even get into cal poly! I applied just for kicks! But now that I’m in I’m starting to worry

Anyone have any input?

@shall3

I’m in the same boat as you. I was also conditionally accepted as an Electrical Engineering major, but I am missing one course, general chemistry, which happens to be one of the required courses for my major. I had put general chemistry as a planned course on the application, but couldn’t take it during this Spring semester.

I did some research earlier, and it turns out some people were still able to get in despite not completing the planned courses they listed in the application. You just need to contact Cal Poly’s admission office to see if you can slip by.

So for those who are still waiting like myself, I just called admissions and from what the representative told me, there is still l two weeks left for acceptances to be sent out.

Have you contacted the admissions office yet by chance? @LiquidSoap
