**cal poly slo fall 2016 transfer thread**

Congratulations to everyone that got into Cal Poly!
Heads up, this place is NOT ethnically diverse.

If you’re a man/woman or (other) of colour, prepare for culture shock.
PS. Asian food scene here is almost non-existent. Get used to burgers, pizza and whatever crap they sell in downtown.

Get ready for the quarter system to tear you a new one!

I’m currently a high school senior planning to attend community college this fall. I’m going to major in Kinesiology(not phyiscal therapy), what are the chance of me getting into Cal Poly SLO?

@akwong15
Kinesiology is in the college of Math & Science which received an average GPA of 3.28 with a 21% acceptance rate for its transfers. Good luck and apply early because the average GPA goes up every year.

@NLinsanity Do you think it is possible to finish community college within two years(I think that’s the average), so I would apply for Fall 2018. I’m worried about planning my classes specifically for Cal Poly if I get rejected, if you can give me some tips on planning for classes please let me know. Every thread I went to people applied to many colleges which makes me wonder how they planned their classes

@CeasarAnthony Way to be optimistic. I attended both Poly Cultural and Open House and yes I realized most of the school is white, I think most of us know that going in.

@akwong15 It’s impossible to say what your chances are because you haven’t done a single thing yet that matters to transfer admission officers.

Get good grades, be involved in campus, create a solid plan that gets you the courses you need, etc.

2 years is more than enough time to transfer. Just make a plan. Find what courses you need. Plan it so your course load isn’t too heavy with really intensive classes and so you can take an extra easier class here or there to keep you on or ahead of schedule.

It sounds like you just need to glue yourself to Google and the admissions website on Cal Poly and research what you need to do.

@zeppy0
Congrats on getting in, and will see you in Fall maybe. Quite a few veterans in CPE/EE, and our student veteran organization is great. GI Bill process is much easier than at the community college as well.

Is there a deposit or something that we are supposed to pay after accepting admissions?

Impossible to say, @catherinebui, but your stats are obviously excellent. Sorry :frowning:

@briank82 Haha, got accepted into UCLA and UCSD though, so i’m not mad about it anymore :slight_smile: cal poly is indeed a weird school.

I had accepted the admission offer on end of April, before the due date, but today it shows that I’ve been denied application.

Anybody knows whats going on? Is this an system error?

@Dethrez, you might want to call, they were checking accounts and seeing if your application matched your transcripts. I got a call today about a class they couldn’t find on my transcripts and it was a simple fix. I also had a change on my account that said:

“The Cal Poly Admissions Office has reviewed the documents you have submitted to date and has determined that you do not yet meet the Terms and Conditions of Admission. Your final transcript/s for this term is/are now needed to determine your admission. Terms and Conditions”

Anyone know if Math 7 smc(calc) works instead of math 28(bus calc 1) or it doesnt

Does that mean that I just need to send my final transcript from Spring and I should be good to go or should I call admissions about this?

Call them, they will be happy to give you the only right answer.

acctgfan did they give you any more information on what happened? my acceptance changed to this as well and im kind of freaking out… and office is closed on wednesdays -_____-

@Jviking I called on Monday, they told me I just had a prereq that they needed to verify I completed in the Spring semester(Managerial Accounting). That’s all, they told me to just send in my final transcripts and once it’s verified I should be good to go.
