@J0SHUA I wouldn’t be so sure. It’s only the 19th of February. It seems, but I might be wrong, that a good number of business applicants haven’t heard back. I was actually looking at your posts and I see you also applied to Long Beach. I applied to CSULB, but was denied (I applied with invalid information…two key classes were missing on app but they will be completed at the end of the semester, along with a couple of other mistakes). I sent in my appeal letter just hours ago (before checking my Cal Poly Portal). I am transferring from College of Marin just north of San Francisco. Is Cal Poly your number one?
@chris227 You should more than fine with getting into CSULB. And yeah Cal Poly is my number one school to attend. It’s just worrying how little people they take in for business. Is Cal Poly your number one?
@J0SHUA Yeah the acceptance rate is quite low from what I understand. I think it’s around 12% for transfer students? Cal Poly is my number one. Long Beach was my backup. I’m still having a hard time believing I was accepted. There are just two sentences in the portal with not much information. I didn’t even get an email.
@chris227 forgot to say congrats man!You should be getting your email soon enough.
@J0SHUA Thank you!!! Best of luck to you and everyone else waiting for the big decision.
I got into CSULB with a 3.32, Igetc done, major prep done, and an AS-T degree done for business adminstration. You would have definitely got in with your stats. Good job on getting into Cal Poly though, I would definitely pick Cal Poly over LB. I applied to Cal Poly as well, but I think my GPA is too low. LB has around a 33% acceptance so I’m still glad I got into it. Like someone said earlier, Cal Poly is 11% acceptance for Business Adminstration.
While the acceptance is higher for freshman, you need a much stronger GPA compared to transferring as a Junior. Interesting trade off, not quite sure which is “easier”.
Any of you guys try for SDSU and how is that business program compared to Long Beach and SLO?
Just wanna say to all you guys (literally everyone who has or hasn’t posted), that you can figure out the approximate acceptance rates for your particular major AND the college you applied to by referring to this document here (**note, these are last year’s projected numbers):
http://content-calpoly-edu.s3.amazonaws.com/ir/1/images/2015-16%20Enrollment%20Projections_0.pdf
** To figure out your specific major’s acceptance rate: **
- Scroll down to find your college (you’ll know you’ve gotten to the different colleges section once you see the rainbow charts)
- Find your major under your college’s left-side heading
- Refer to the 2nd column titled “NTR Apps;” this means “new transfer apps” (if that wasn’t clear), and record the number
- Refer to the 4th column titled “NTR Target;” this–I’m assuming–refers to that particular major’s actual goal/number of transfer students who will be accepted, and then also record that number
- Divide the 2nd column # (NTR Apps) by the 4th column # (NTR Target) and multiply by 100, and you’re left with your major’s acceptance rate
** To figure out your college’s overall acceptance rate: **
- Again, scroll down to your college and then scroll to the bottom two rows that are titled “Working Total” and “Fixed Total” (for most of the colleges, these two numbers will be exactly the same, so you can refer to either one)
- Refer to the 2nd column “NTR Apps” again and record that number
- Refer to the 4th column “NTR Target” number again and also record that number
- Divide the 2nd column # by the 4th column #, multiple by 100 and you’ve got yourself your college’s overall acceptance rate
Hope this helps give you guys some tangible numbers for how many people get accepted, and also the rate of acceptance (which, I’m just going to say, is kind of fun to brag about a little since most of their major acceptance rates are pretty low…just saying their psychology major has a ~3.6% acceptance rate >:D< have fun with these numbers if you’ve already been accepted!)
Still haven’t heard back Really getting nervous
@mmt159 If it makes you feel any better I’m in the same boat.
@mranddd Hopefully we hear something soon. I saw a post saying that a girl called admissions and they said they are randomly sending out acceptances so it’s not by major or anything. Gives me more hope!
@mmt159 yeah im trying to stay as positive as I can its just scary reading last years thread and also just how low the acceptance rate is. Hopefully by some miracle we’ll hear back soon!! What you’re saying makes me feel a little better!
@mranddd I agree! Good luck to you
@mmt159 thank you!! you too!!!
Hi guys I haven’t heard back yet and I am starting to think I will not get in
Stats:
Major: Business Administration (Information Systems concentration)
GPA: 3.70
IGETC: No, 2 more classes left.
Major Prep: Will complete at the end of this semester.
ECs: Work in an IT department, local community service at my church.
I applied to UCI (signed my TAG), USC, UCSC and Cal Poly. Do you guys think I have a chance? Thank you in advance.
you do hang in there
I read on another thread that SLO is sending out acceptance decisions in random batches… I am Business major as well and I have yet to hear back either…so hopefully we find out soon…
Any mechanical engineering aplicants hear back yet.
Hey everyone! Looking at last years threads people were accepted at total random for just about a week. So don’t lose hope! The waiting is killing me too
@meksa++ I just checked My Cal Poly Portal and I got admitted for Mechanical Engineering!! Yaaaayyy!!
