Cal Poly Transfer Admission selection process

Hello,
I had a few questions regarding the way cal poly selects its transfer
Do they count your sophomore fall semester grades in their admission selection?
Do they only use your freshman year grades to evaluate you?
I really do a lot of clubs and various things, do they really care if I do 21+ hours of extracurriculars?
My gpa is 3.18 and I want to transfer as an architecture student, do I have a chance?
What can I do now before I start my sophomore year to maximize my chances of getting in?
Thanks!

I’ve checked it before unfortunately, I’m just mostly concerned about my gpa, I’m confident I’d get straight A’s for fall which would really improve my gpa. But I’ve gotten mixed answers about wether or not they count those grades.

@Gumbymom

Website states average for this years transfer is a 3.23. Your GPA is not that far off so it puts you in a good position for a possible acceptance but the acceptance rate is low at about 23%.
Architecture & Env. Design Applied:346 Accepted:80 Average GPA: 3.23

You might want to browse through the SLO transfer thread and view some of the recently admitted stats also.
When you apply, you will only have your grades up to the Spring/Summer 2015. After fall semester, you should receive a request for transcripts which would include your Fall semester grades. Not sure if you can update your grades for Fall semester on the CSU application at this point like for the UC application? Spring semester grades will not be used for admission purposes.

Ok thanks for the information! It was extremely helpful. @Gumbymom Can I ask how you know they’ll request transcripts?

Submitting transcripts is on the CSU Transfer checklist. I have not specifically filled out the CSU transfer application, but for the UC’s, you update your transfer application after you receive your Fall semester grades and then you send in your transcripts for verification.

My younger son was required as a Freshman to submit Mid-year transcripts for SDSU and CSUF. I am assuming that transfers will be similar. SLO does state specifically do not send documentation until requested. Once you have a login for SLO to monitor your application, there should be a “to do list” which would list items that are required for admission.
