i’ve applied to Cal Poly, they have asked for my portfolio. now that i’m past the first step, how difficult is the portfolio submission? is it more difficult to be accepted because i’m an out of state student?

They won't know you are from out of state. You have passed the admissions requirements for CP and now are only being seen by the eyes of Graphic Design only. I know because I have a daughter there! First, follow the instructions for submitting your portfolio. Pay attention to size requirements and deadlines. Give them your best work, make sure it is clean and presented to the best of your ability. Second, be sure you send the necessary paperwork for getting your portfolio back to you - unless you want to justify a road trip to Poly to pick it up! Good luck!
