I got into Cal Poly yesterday and was beyond excited, until I started reading there terms and conditions. Truthfully, I only applied to cal states because my family wanted me to, so I didn’t take the admissions seriously. I self reported grades that I thought I got but didn’t double check to make sure. Now, I double checked the grades that I have gotten and the grades I reported to SLO and some of them are off. Some classes I put that I got a B when I actually got a C(only because I thought I got a B). Now I’m scared that the admissions office could rescinded my application… But I did get in for my art, not my grades, so I’m really not sure. Do you have any advice as to what I should do?
PS. Once I started looking more into SLO, I realized I really wanted to go there AFTER I submitted my app.
Contact admissions ASAP since you are required to submit your final transcript at the end of the year. Any discrepancies they can rescind you. Better to find out now while you still have some alternates then later after the May1 deadline.
But the thing is that I got in for art and design. My grades didn’t matter in my admission, only my portfolio. I only had to meet the requirements. I really don’t want them to take away my admission now because they can still fill it with other people.
Have you figured out your actual CSU GPA? and how many grades were actually entered incorrectly? If it is only a few then it is probably not a problem. You are right, you did get in based on your art portfolio. However, if you submitted most of your grades like that, then there would be a problem. The most important factor is that you did not have any D’s. Also they look at your SAT/ACT scores, academic rigor and how many hours of EC’s. If you had good scores then that is another huge plus on your side. Art and Design is not a highly impacted major so I am sure it will all work out! Good luck to you!!
I’m in highschool, but my gpa is a 3.0, and that is listed correctly in my application. I looked at the classes represented and there are 12!! I honestly can’t believe it, I really think it was a technical issue. I really don’t know what to do.
I know you’re in HS and u have your weighted GPA, but you would have had to caculate your Cal State GPA too. So did u list your CSU & HS GPA correctly on your application? And now the next question will be were all the incorrect grades C’s? Were they in AP or honors classes? What were your SAT/ACT scores? This will matter with your case and possible review of your application. Once you have all of that info, you will have to contact the admissions office. Was the art & design application different from other majors? Did it state on there that you just needed to meet the minimum qualifications? If yes, then you shouldn’t be too worried. Also the art & design dept. obviously saw talent in your porfolio so that is good. Let me know what happens!
My Cal State GPA is a 2.8. The incorrect grades were B’s that were actually C’s. And no they were not AP classes. My ACT is a 27. The application was different because we had to submit a portfolio and was not based on grades, we simply had to meet admission criteria.
It’s totally your call then if you don’t want to contact admissions. I can understand that. With probably 4600+ new freshmen, admissions has it’s hands full anyway. I looked up last year’s stats for portfolio submissions 162 and they accepted 55. That’s really great that they loved your portfolio. You must be so excited about that. Good luck with your major and enjoy Cal Poly!
